This is absolute bullshite.

The consent decree has 100% decreased morale and hamstrung NOPD. And anyone who knows anything about the situation will tell you the same.

You’ll see soon when the state police end up under federal supervision.

When

Dating myself, but in the late 80’s through the late 90’s and even into the early 2000’s. Cops on every corner, usually at least 2-3 police horses up and down bourbon and just an overall sense of some safety. I used to even park at an empty lot on rampart and this was before Katrina when it was very much less desirable.

Now switch over to absolutely nothing and it’s just dumbfounding how there wasn’t a single one stationed on bourbon. I walked it twice after I noticed that just to make sure. And I was right, nada.

Nope. George Floyd and BLM.

Cops everywhere in the USA have calculated that it is not in their best interests to encounter black people. Even if they are at the site of violent crime, they often turn the other way. If they do their jobs it is too likely that they will end up in prison, or fired with loss of pension.

Yeah they used to have troopers, deputies and NOPD in the quarter. Now you don't see barely any police. You don't even see them on the little quads anymore.

I love how someone comes to NOLA for two days and does not get mugged. OP stated the obvious. The police force is decimated along with a POS DA that does not hold the criminals feet to the fire. Going to the city is rolling the dice.

Pack you lunch and give us a permission slip as we can take you to a New Orleans East Field trip.

Then you will see the fun part of the city.

That would suggest a 10% reduction. It's much worse than that.

Lol every single UBER driver I had mentioned this during our discussion. They ones from NOLA don’t even think about picking up or dropping off over there. Not that anybody in NOLA east is using UBER

Insane. Your biggest revenue source to the city literally has 3 people guarding it. Bat-shite-crazy

How about the lovely St. Ann and Chartres streets, eh? Nothing says "first world slum" like those streets.

No, actually had a really good friend pass away last week so I had to go the funeral. Too expensive to fly the whole family down and also take the kids out of school. Sometimes spending time by yourself in a city you still love (despite the crime) is good for the mind.

But thanks for the comment.

Why has the mob not returned? My God if you ever had an environment to run the city this is it. Even if the current administration was smart enough to catch on, and they aren't, you could easily just pay them off.

It’s just a bunch of shite they agreed on to be more equitable in their policing.

Maybe because the dominant gangs are Latin gangs, not Italian mobsters. Not in 2023 at least.

I will be doing this exact same think this week.
