One thing is they should have done more to recap where the teams are. Seems like West Ham is in the Premier League (and picked to finish top 4). I can't tell and can't remember exactly how Richmond finished. By some of the players comments, it seems like they also made it to Premier?
Then making it back to the Premier league was a pretty big part of last season.

I should have done a rewatch of the earlier seasons before this season started. It was a bit of a long stretch between seasons.

I thought that was a great first episode, personally, and this is from someone who thought things fell off quite a bit in season two.
I thought this episode (and I hope this will continue this season) did a great job of showing the nuance of everyone. Folks saying different people are being the villain, but I think it’s doing a good job of not having cartoon bad guys, which is surprising given how much of a cartoon Ted can be at times.
Rebecca isn’t a villain at all. She’s a boss with some jealousy who has a little doubt about how driven her coach is and wants to make sure he’s still all-in. Nate isn’t really a villain either, just someone with a ton of insecurities who feels like he was under appreciated and now being pushed to be something he’s not.
I thought Ted’s reaction was great, all you can be is yourself, especially when you know someone else is forcing a different version of themselves. I also thought his kid’s response to when Ted said it’s not about winning and he said that doesn’t mean you can’t try.
This whole season will hopefully be about everyone’s insecurities, their realization that they have to be themselves, and Ted hopefully realizing that being yourself and trying to connect with others doesn’t mean you can’t also try to win.

This is the last season of the Ted Lasso storyline.
I can all but guarantee there will be a spin-off. Perhaps Roy coming to the US.
Also, I’m sticking with my theory that the big payoff is going to be Richmond winning the FA Cup and beating West Ham to do so.

You're wild if you don't think Bill Lawrence and Jason Sudeikis can't figure out a way to extend it if Apple comes to them with frick you money to have more seasons of Ted Lasso.

Brendan Hunt was on the Dan Patrick show last week saying that 3 seasons was always the plan for this iteration. Sure Apple could throw the moon at them for a fourth or maybe they go the 3 seasons and a movie route.
DP also asked him about spin-offs and maybe it’s someone coming to the States and he gave the “well I can’t say anything but you might be right” reaction.

Here's a fascinating thread on the origin of the Ted Lasso character and the development of the show:

After watching one episode, I have a theory on how I think they wrap this up. Don’t want to post it and it ending up being right and a potential spoiler

Leicester City. Jose Mourinho. Roberto Martinez. Wolverhampton.
Somewhere in there lies the answer you seek.

Some trivia I just learned about Jason Sudeikis:
His uncle is George Wendt ("Norm!"), who is his mother's brother.
He has a congenital lack of ability to smell, which he didn't start to realize until he was a teenager and people told him his feet smelled bad and he couldn't tell. Aside from the obvious issues, this would also affect your ability to taste food. I guess it's like color blindness. You don't know what your missing if you've never experienced it.

Took a weird jab at Joe Rogan early but other than that, good stuff.
It was weird and distracting. I am trying to imagine someone pitching this in a writers room...
Writer: "Hey guys, how about we get Keely to be on the phone with Joe Rogan and tell him to frick off!"
Other Writers: "Why would Keely be on the phone with Joe Rogan?"
Writer: "Who cares? It's hilarious!"

We need a Tim Robinson cameo this season.
