I don’t really ever think about Mainieri. Why are you? He retired 2 years ago.

But last year people were beating the hell out of our new BB coach. Now he's better than sliced bread. What a flip flop. Probably will be beating up on the girls BB coach before long.

Did I miss a joke or do the guys downvoting me not realize Jay literally took Arizona to Omaha twice? That was the only criteria mentioned by the poster I was responding to.

Of course Jay doesn’t have Paul’s resume yet. He’s only 45. And I’m one of the ones that realize winning a CWS is really, really hard. A lot of things have to go your way to win the last game in Omaha. Skip spoiled us and warped our expectations. Still, I’d be absolutely shocked if Jay doesn’t win multiple titles here. Might take longer than a lot expect, though. It’s hard to win an NC now. Or we could win this year and go back to back next. Who knows.

I’m just enjoying the season. Although I am a bit thankful that my mind doesn’t go as often to having fried mozzarella sticks as a snack.

Pawl represented LSU baseball with dignity and class, and he brought home a Natty.

Great coach, great person.

This board trashes the baseball coach that won us a natty, a national runner up, and a bunch of top 8 seeds.

This board loves the basketball coach who is the dumbest cheater of all time and who won 1 NCAA tournament game in five years (remember, he was suspended when we went to the sweet 16).

This is a strange, strange place.

Paul Mainieri came to LSU and turned things around in short order. He won a ton of meaningful games during his career. I respect Paul because he was a good coach that brought his teams to numerous top8 seeds and two CWS Finals.

Honestly, at the time, I did not know the severity of his neck issues. It’s a wonder that he did not step down sooner but Paul loves LSU and he still does wonderful things for our Baton Rouge community.

Paul Mainieri is a man that I would like to meet one day. Class act ! Good man !

You’re correct LSUcoonass. 40 years ago when I was 15, I watched the same 12 schools play in Omaha every summer. You did not see Ole Miss or Dallas Baptist or Coastal Carolina.

I believe Ron Fraser, Bertman, and Polk and Garrido help showcase what was possible at a Div. 1 school.

Is cool to watch college baseball again. The fact that people are asking if Alabama should be ranked in the top 25 is testament of the growing popularity.

I definitely miss Mainieri. I miss Miles too. Hell I even miss Orgeron from time to time.

Those men were there for some of my most favorite moments of being a fan of this university.

There’s an ex girlfriend or two I miss at times. But it doesn’t mean I want them back.

Why shite on CPM? He won a championship, ran a good program, retired with no scandals, and left Johnson in a position to win it all in year 2. He retired when he needed to.

Correct!

Those assistant coaches from the cal state Fullertons, Wichita states, msu, Texas all went on to build more successful programs.

Now with transfer portals and nil it’s next to impossible to build dynasties like that.

I never understand LSU fans who want to shite on coaches who have won a NC and are now gone to pasture.
