A 6-year-old who allegedly shot his elementary teacher in the hand and chest in January will not face charges, the prosecuting attorney in the case announced Wednesday.
Prosecutor Howard Gwynn, who works as the commonwealth's attorney for Newport News, Virginia, said he does not believe that a 6-year-old can understand the U.S. legal system and would not be competent to stand trial. However, Gwynn has not ruled out charging adults in the situation.

I understand that a typical 6 year old would have a difficult time understanding our criminal justice system but I also believe that he understood that guns can kill people. This teacher could have easily died and will be scarred by this for the rest of her life, mentally and physically.
Where is justice for her ?

The justice for her is charging those most responsible. Do you believe a 6 year old has the capacity to understand the legal system or is most responsible here... Or perhaps is this a product of the house they grew up in?

Adopted by better parents? No excuse for them.

Let them change genders. They can understand that at that age

Apparently, this kid has been a problem at the school for a while. Multiple teachers have raised concerns about him BEFORE the shooting. I don't know if he's mentally disabled or what, but this squarely falls on the parents. Who leaves a handgun where a 6 y/o can find it, then take it to school without a parent knowing?

Did he know it was terribly wrong to take a gun to school?
If not, he either suffers from pediatric psychopathy, or a horrid social environment. Either way a year or more in a disciplined observed setting is indicated.
If so, a couple of years in a disciplined observed setting is indicated.
Meanwhile, if the adults in the environment were negligent, that needs to be addressed as well.

Would the Dems rule out aborting this 6 year old?
You don't necessarily have to state sanction the murder, but give the mother the opportunity to practice safe reproductive rights.
If she says "off with his head" then we have to respect that wish. If she chooses to kill her baby, that's her right.
Her body... Her choice.

A-year-old who allegedly shot his elementary teacher in the hand and chest in January will not face charges, the prosecuting attorney in the case announced Wednesday.
The “prosecutor“ in question is Howard Gwynn, who works as the commonwealth's attorney for Newport News. That is the equivalent of the “district attorney“ in most states. Also in most states, the district attorney is not responsible for the prosecution of juvenile offenders. Instead, that is handled in the “juvenile justice system“
Is this guy just saying that they are not pursuing criminal charges in their equivalent of District Court, or is he saying that there will be no action within the juvenile justice system?
I tend to agree with the proposition that a six year old is too young to be in the criminal system. On the other hand, if he is saying that there will be no “juvenile system“ enforcement, that is a problem.
As usual, reporters do not seem to understand the legal system well enough to provide relevant facts … or even to ask the correct questions

The age of culpability is probably the main factor here. I dont know what it is there, but in Louisiana you can't charge a kid under 10 with a crime.

Probably
He'll more than likely be dead within 10 years anyway.

He was never going to be charged because he's six fricking years old. His parents however should be thrown in jail and he should be adopted by someone with a family unit.

No. But they do understand consequences.
Punishing the parents and remediating or removing the child are not mutually exclusive

Parents need to be charged, and the school administration who were warned SUED.

Parent(s) should be charged.

Yes but how many innocent people will he kill before he dies?

Does this mean a 6 year old is too young to make decisions about their gender or see/read sexual explicit material in school?
