Roughly $35M a year. But giving Carr that kind of money was dumb, right ?

Seahawks have a ton of young talent and a much better cap picture. They also have a bunch of blue chip draft picks from the Wilson trade and are clearly building for the future while still currently competing. Geno also massively outperformed Carr last year. They have a ton of options and will be scary. We’re trying to get a leg up on the cripple fight that is the nfc south.

It’s not even a remotely comparable situation.

What's their long term dead cap situation look like? How many bad contracts that they can't shed do they have?

Carr's salary is fine objectively

Carr's salary is terrible for our cap situation

And the Saints don’t?

Penning
Olave
Shaheed
Werner
Lattimore
Taylor
McCoy
Ram

You can add Elliss and Johnson here if they come back as well.

Those players are all fine. Some are being paid huge deals. Some already have their contracts being pushed forward because we’re up against it yet again.

Jury out on a few like shaheed as we’ve seen this movie before with no name guys breaking out then basically disappearing in the subsequent years.

Penning -ehhh

Thing is we’re not nearly likely to be able to keep these guys if they all do continue to progress. Seattle will as they’ve had several years with multiple early round picks.

I’d bet just about anything Seattle won’t have to push any of Geno’s contract into the future

That's not his fault. He's getting paid league average. And he didn't come here to fix our cap situation.

This team is not built to compete long term. If we keep kicking cans, which it looks like we are, we'll be wishing for the Haslett years. Payton's success will not be seen here, that's a fact.

Good point OP. Considering Cousins and Tanehill make just as much and Daniel Jones is gonna make more, Carr's contract is more than adequate.

Let's look at Carr's stats compared to Smiths at the same point in their career, not just one good year.

None of you simping for Geno remember that this was basically his best year. Had a freak year and banked. He has never been better than Carr outside of 2022.
