Remember when you sat in a chair during an intense job interview? Very uncomfortable.

Think about those times you finally got to the point a potential employer wanted to sit down with you and see if you were truly a fit for their needs.
I remember setting with RF engineers taking a verbal examination while looking at an Operational Amplifier circuit on a dry erase board. Taking questions about changing the values of the feedback resistor, certain capacitors and being asked what happens to the gain and frequency response of the output. It was a interview exercise that gave those RF engineers confidence the potential engineering tech could work in their group.
Stay with me, the previous account is an illustration of what separates competence from incompetence.
Tucker Carlson just played a clip from a confirmation hearing for the main honcho of the FAA. This person being interviewed (Phil Washington) by our politicians is a minority and he was asked specific questions regarding safety guidelines and operational protocols of commercial air traffic in the United States and he could not answer one of those questions. He was able to answer a question about ensuring there would be equity in the FAA but he was clueless about safety and operational guidelines.
This ^^^ is how a once great nation crumbles, by not using merit to bring forth the most qualified and competent candidates to perform critical jobs/assignments…..instead it’s diversity, inclusion and equity that is the most important criteria for filling these positions.
Unfortunately, the same thing is happening with our politicians. It’s our duty as the electorate to vet our politicians before placing them in high office. As evidenced by Pennsylvania, we’re not doing a very good job. PA voted a dead man into congress and a stroke rehabilitation patient into the Senate. If the aforementioned isn’t bad enough the electorate placed a corrupt and cognitively impaired geriatric in the White House.
You see, the reason this nation is teetering on the precipice of collapse isn’t the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats running our nation, it’s the electorate that refuses to do their job vetting the candidates for these positions of high office…..or maybe the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats are a reflection of the electorate.

Also, to not elect people who actively hate this country.

Yep, & it’s a damned shame.

How do we overcome societal indifference?
Posted on 3/3/23 at 8:56 pm to Bass Tiger
There need to be aptitude tests required for each type of office sought.

Something has to change because the electorate is incapable of choosing competent politicians.

I don’t really like this solution but there should be a very minimal test for every voter in national elections to ensure a somewhat informed individual is voting….it’s too important. Think about it, all a politician has to do is campaign on student loan forgiveness and he picks up millions of votes.

What this translates to practically if you're being honest is you want people who think like you to vote

I want people who have just a modicum of knowledge about civics, current political events/topics, maybe, who was the first president of the US……., not vote for me and I’ll give you some other peoples hard earned money.

He clearly understands the actual job description of the position. It's equity. Any job in government right now is equity regardless of title.

Nope, never interviewed for a job I didn't already have.

yet another pointless stupid comment

Well of course but the reality is that these globalists want to obliterate any semblance of meritocracy under the guise of diversity, equity and inclusion so they can “penetrate ze cabinets” to install their diabolical elect with impunity.

In the late 80's I interviewed for a consulting job with a major firm. Me (engineer) and two big school MBA's were put in a room and given a test. Using a dozen functions from a fictious programming language and we had to write code to do some simple tasks. And while they could tell you quarterly profits and who the CFO was, I got the offer.
To your point, seeing how someone can dance around a question in a public hearing is one thing. Testing their knowledge in a old fashioned exam is another.

When the elected officials can (unconstitutionally) take money from one segment of the electorate and give it to other people - whether it be in the form of entitlements or corporate handouts - that becomes the only criteria that a majority of the electorate cares about. Get rid of the ability of the government to hand out money and a majority of your governmental problems disappear.

How bout you can vote only if you have a job and pay taxes.
Posted on 3/4/23 at 10:18 am to Bass Tiger
When you hire the best ________ for the job instead of the best person for the job you get this stupid shite and idiots running things.

Those racist tests were written by white people.

The parties are selecting the candidates and in many cases, they don't care if they are competent or if you like them...especially if they get to count the votes. Whoever gets in is going to do their bidding.
