This is the answer. Van Hagar sucks. OUbought12? Next up would be Pink Floyd. The albums after Roger always had a good Gilmour song or two but never the quality of the earlier works.

After Duane Allman was taken from us the Allman Brothers were not as good or as dynamic. I can't say they were bad, but they were different.
Being able to groom derek trucks and pick up warren Haynes gave the allmans a third life that most these other bands don’t get. Seeing the allmans in 2010 was still a Damn good show.
Creatively they weren’t terrible post Duane but it’s just dominated by dickey’s country sound, instead of more jazz/blues that daune and the rhythm section drove. Losing berry Oakley on bass around the same time as Duane was big too.

It's hard for me to say I'm sorry.

Remember when the other members voted Vince Neil out of Motley Crue?

Incubus. Their music died the day they kicked out Dirk.

Their career was essentially already over, but Three Dog Night after they threw out Chuck Negron.
The fact that he was willing to return for a lesser cut than Cory and Danny years later and they still refused, cemented their fate as never being semi relevant again.

Queensryche fell off hard after Chris DeGarmo left.

In my opinion one of the most glaring examples is Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater. The creativity and rhythms absolutely sunk the moment he left and while Mangini is a fantastic drummer, his presence in Dream Theater specifically feels stiff and rigid. Distance Over Time was serviceable, but everything else is lackluster.
Yeah, none of the Mangini albums have grabbed me. You can even argue that Dream Theater lost a little something when Kevin Moore left.

Without Michael Hutchence they were just the Ferris brothers messing around with instruments. Hutchence was a presence on stage that few could match.

I love me some skydog, but their highest chart topping songs were after Duane died. And they toured for 40+ years after he died. ABB is not a good example for this thread.

And then made the best Crüe album with John Corabi?

Mangini is a solid drummer. But this switch exemplifies the "soul" vs "technicality" argument that music often suffers through...
