I don’t really want him. Draft Hooker and see how we do

Carr is a lot better.
This may be true but, is he 30mm better than Dalton?

You think Dalton will play for $5 mm this year? Try 15

Who is giving him 15 a year. That’s starter money. A team will have to commit to him as the starter with that contract. Good Backup money is anywhere between 5-7 a year.

Carr will probably get around 30. Maybe a little more or a little less. But probably around that number.
Pretty sure Dalton can be had for 8-10 and if not move in to someone ejse like Teddy B or Baker.
And Carr is still not 20 million a year better than Dalton.

Dalton won't get 15 mil.

Maybe not for 31 teams

What an absurd exaggeration.

If Carr wanted that much money he should have been more amiable to a trade.

The purpose of a trade for the team taking him would have been to save money from it going to a bidding war.

Jameis Winston makes $15mm

Let’s overpay another qb for years for average results. shite why not. #frickingretarded.
Carr isn’t money wise better than the QBs we have now.

Pretty sure we were the only dumasses that were giving him that contract. No one else would have.

To be a starter. Jamesi looked good the year before. It was really a 1 yr 15 mil contract.
Imo dalton will not get a guaranteed 15 mil deal from anyone cause no one will be counting on him to start.
I could see him maybe getting 10 mil with half guaranteed.
He got 3 mil guaranteed this year.

You should do some research first before laughing.
The 17th highest paid qb in 2022 was our very own Crab legs making 15.2 million.
The 18th was Tom Brady making 15 million. Jimmy G was next making 10. That’s smack in the middle of 32 teams, that means almost half had starters that made less than 10 million last year.
That’s the world I live in. The one where I know my shite.

He played ok under Payton, but what team was giving him that contract? Almost every team had their starter already or drafted a rookie and went with a cheaper vet than Winston.
It’s part of the reason it took forever for Baker to get traded. There was really no place for him to go that could commit to him as a starter. I have a feeling this year will be the same. It’s why Dalton would be lucky to get 10.
Saints just overpayed market value. It’s why Dalton will likely get less from us if we go in that direction again b/c they made the mistake overpaying Winston.

If you’re the Saints, don’t sign anyone to a high money long term deal. Focus on drafting players, and work on clearing cap space. Our division is so bad right now we can do that and not go 0-17. If we keep kicking the can down the road, the rest of the division will get better and we will be in a world of hurt. Even with a conservative long term strategy such as this one, it’s possible to still make the playoffs, simply because the division is so weak. It’s the best you could have hoped for when you started backloading all the contracts years ago.
