Pequods deep dish.

I enjoyed our meal at Girl and the Goat. Au Cheval was a great burger as well and they are right next to each other. Of course hit Portillos as well for a dog and Italian beef. Stop by Murphys at wrigleyville

Definitely go to Pequod's. The best of all of the deep dish places.

Aba in Fulton Market was a great meal. Sepia was a great dining experience as well. Maple and Ash for steaks.

The Signature Room at the 95th. Very upscale restaurant on the 95th floor of the John Hancock tower, so you get stellar views of the city while you eat. I haven't eaten there in several years but the food was excellent last time I was there.

Pequods deep dish.

Has fallen off a cliff the last two times I've been. Way, way too much sauce and the crust just wasn't there - no crunch... at all.

Best deep dish / pan in the city right now is, easily, Milly's Pizza In The Pan. OP, if you're going to be riding along the Red Line, pop north of Wrigley and get off at Argyle for Milly's.

Loaded question and, honestly, you'd be better-served just doing a Search and diving through a bunch of threads. Going to copy and paste what I posted back in November + add a few places I've been since that time. Not an exhaustive list, but should be enough in some of the popular neighborhoods.

West Loop - Time Out Market, Rose Mary, Girl and The Goat, Monteverde, Rose Mary, Oriole, Swift & Sons, ROOH, High Five Ramen, The Loyalist (or Smyth, if you prefer a tasting menu)

River North - Bavette's, Gilt Bar, Kinzie Chophouse, Obelix, Tzuco, Ema,

River West / West Town / Ukrainian - Kasama, Boeufhaus, Vajra, Funkenhausen, La Scarola, Piccolo Sogno

Logan Square / Avondale - Union, Offset BBQ, Gretel, Giant, Mi Tocaya Antojeria, Andros Taverna, Longman & Eagle, Parachute

Bucktown / Wicker - etta, Amaru, Club Lucky, Mott St, Mable's Table

Lincoln Park - Galit, Armitage Alehouse, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba, GEMINI

Lincoln Square - The Warbler / Gather, Bistro Campagne

*Special shout out to Virtue in Hyde Park. I don't get on the south side much, but that was a fantastic dinner.

Pequod's has sucked for years now. It's not the worst pie you'll ever have, but it gets way too much hype. The only people I know who like it are tourists or people who live in Chicago that aren't originally from Chicago.

Monteverde is a great Italian restaurant where they handmake their own pasta, which I highly recommend. It's in the West Loop, a few blocks west of Girl & The Goat.

Monteverde

Miller's Pub is in the Loop near the Art Institute, and is a Chicago staple. It isn't world-class dining, but you'll get a good meal, and it has a lot of old-school history. Harry Caray, Bill Veeck, the old newspaper guys, and local celebs used to get hammered at the bar. Last time I was in there for lunch, Jerry Reinsdorf was sitting a couple tables away from me.

That sucks. It was one of my favorite pizzas I’ve ever had in 2017 when I went

Art of pizza.

It’s just not a great scene place. Get it delivered or grab a slice after a cubs game.

Also, for everyone, Pequod’s is NOT deep dish pizza. It’s basically thick pan pizza. Mostly breading/crust.

You can get way better food for your money at a ton of places, see hoops post. Pro tip is to go to the signature room and get a cocktail to see the views. Cheaper than the observation deck and you get alcohol and the view.

Agreed

Not at all, that's why we preferred it over all of the 'deep dish' pizzas. But to each his own.

Pequod’s is absolutely mostly breading. That’s not an opinion.

Don’t get me wrong. I really like Pequod’s. But don’t call it something it’s not.

Goat butter crust

Goto Billy Goat Tavern and get a burger, no Pepsi, coke. Use to work near one.

I know people get a “when in rome” attitude toward Chicago pizza but IMO it’s all super overrated.

Au Cheval is a must.

We've never experienced that, hopefully it hasn't gone down , but we haven't been in 4 years. Also liked the Brickhouse from Pizano's
