Just another reason that lazy piece of shite Democrats are Covidians. They don’t want to work at all. I fricking hate them.

his is simple. If 95%+ of your job requires you to use a computer or a computer is the best method of completing the work, then there is no fricking reason to drive into an office and sit around a bunch of other people on computers.
I agree with this IF it is easy for the company to monitor if you've worked your 8 hour day.

Shortly after the announcement, hundreds of Amazon staffers started joining an internal Slack channel called Remote Advocacy; there were more than 14,000 members of the channel as of Tuesday, according to a report from Business Insider.
Now they have a list of people to fire.

This is fact, it just doesn't work for offshore guys like myself. We could do some of those Houston based jobs well, but none of us want to move to Houston. The bitch of it is we could do those jobs from home, and most of us just want to be home. The company would be better served hiring offshore guys for some of these roles, they just refuse the WFH part.

I got lucky in that there aren't many people that do what I do. 2 people that work in my division threatened to quit when people returned to office. Both live outside of houston. One in michigan. So when I hired on they gave me the choice. Same pay. Still get a truck allowance also working from home. Worked out well

As someone who works 70+ hours a week most of the year on a catfish farm I can’t find any pity for these people
Is it really work if you are fishing 70 hours a week?

Hmmm...I wonder where we should start the next round of layoffs?

These people probably work less than 4 hrs a day. Have you seen the tik toks.
Hey guys, I started today by waking up a 7. I did my self affirmations and wrote in my diary about the struggles I’ve been having with my mental health and anxiety. After that I took a shower, got dressed and walked down to the coffee shop for a matcha tea. They didn’t have the normal blueberry muffins that I normally have which did create a little anxiety in me about how the day would go, but I was able to get a gluten free waffle with organic syrup sourced from a small village in Canada where they massage the maple trees with palm leaves. After that I went back home and did a quick peloton ride, rinsed off and turned on my computer for a brain-storming session with my co-workers. I then went down to the fresh made deli across the street for a quick bite to eat and a flavored tea with a shot of melatonin to calm my anxiety before my afternoon meditation session. After my meditation session I felt so renewed and pulled up my computer to do a little social media research for my job. I ended the day at 3pm with a bottle of alkaline water to balance my anxiety. I crawled under my blanket on my couch with my support dog and watched the newest season of “Love is Blind”. We used Uber eats to get a kale salad with tempeh and a light balsamic vinaigrette sauce. I ended the day by listening to a short podcast on being a better you, turned off my lamp and got a good nights rest.

We never went back to the office full time but it is a big deal for some people. I don't really give a crap either way. I suspect we'd lose some employees if they were asked to go back 5 days per week.
Hybrid works just fine. The majority of people bitching are those who are saving money on childcare costs who are still 100% remote. They’ll be axed soon enough, these are people who do not possess core competencies for the main money maker, AWS.

Amazon has a company wide layoff coming.
Those that quit will save the company severance and unemployment costs.
And wife other tech companies doing the same layoffs. Good luck on finding another job….
