This guy is a total disgrace.

We desperately need to stop appointing people as leaders based solely upon skin color, gender, and who they like to frick.

It's 2023. Those are totally the only things that matter. You get bonus points if you are a black transgender gay female atheist.

Even if this were true Biden and this gay boy could have easily reinstated anything Trump got rid of. But sadly the masses on the left will eat this up and believe it actually is Trumps fault

This continues to infuriate me. Braking regulations? I heard media today talk about infrastructure and poor condition of rail lines nationwide, without any specificity.

What’s been reported as cause of derailment was a failed bearing.

If that’s right, the follow up questions from the media and politicians should be:

What are Norfolk Southerns recommended maintenance and inspection programs for their engines and railcars?

Can you show us the maintenance records for the cars on the train that derailed?

When was the last time the bearings were inspected and/or replaced?

Is there a bearing monitoring system on the cars?

If so, how does it work? Was there any prior indication of bearing problems? For example, vibration or overheating?

I’m not a train guy, but someone more knowledgeable than me should be asking these questions.

I heard there are 1700 train derailments annually. Why? What’s the root causes?

Prioritize causes. Who’s responsible for rail line maintenance? Companies, government, or combination? If both, then no one is responsible and that is a problem too.

You got that right. I would not be surprised if one of the board’s resident progs claim that it was Trump’s fault before the week is out.

You’re right, but people get bored with analyses like that. Everything’s gotta be juicy and simple now.

Most sensible people hopefully realize that blame lays more with the current administration that failed to heed the warnings from railroad union workers about dangerous and unsafe conditions.

Yep.

Atlanta news leading off with the story...

Braking regulations made easier for corporate rail by Trump caused the accident! Industry safety experts say! Buttigieg and Biden gonna fight it and fix this mistake by Trump and make rail safer for all of us!

And just about everyone watching in the 6M+ Atlanta metro will absorb it like an empty sponge brain. They won’t think to question it, check other sources, nothing. They are now programmed with this info.

Use all the Ukraine money to improve the US infrastructure. The power grid could be hardened against EMP with all that Ukrainian kickback money.

No accountability with this current administration. Screw the bridges, the roads, railways, and the power grid.

They've had two years to put those regs back in place if they were so important.

C'mon man.

The Dems were still blaming Bush on things in 2016 when he was out of office for almost 8 years.

Actual qualifications to run the Nation's Transportation Dept: 2 terms as mayor South Bend, Ind. 7 years in the Navy. Period. No mas. When the country was getting hammered with massive supply chain issues, he took off work for 2 mths of "maternity" leave. He's one of 11 of biden's administration appointees with zero experience in their particular department's field. As in none of those 11 have ever worked in their field.
