The Lakers did REALLY well at the deadline. Really, really well.
I certainly don't see them as #6 and a true Finals Contender though.
He claims they improved pretty much everything about the team, when they actually downgraded their already porous defense bigger than they improved their offense.
This is the problem with these pundits and media guys. The deal was not that great. Other than the fact that they didn't give up their '29 1st rounder, they paid significant for bench guys and Russell who may fit offensively, but will hurt their defense tremendously.
They are in no way contenders, but will likely be in the play-in tournament.

KOC ranked Killian Hayes as his number 1 overall prospect (not just guards) in a draft that had
Lamelo
Anthony Edwards
Haliburton
Maxey
Bane
So, I kind of take his analysis with a bit of a grain of salt these days. I’m not sure he really knows ball, but Zach Lowe’s shite is behind a paywall these days, so KOC gets a lot of run bc his stuff is relatively easily accessible and he’s generally not a douche bag.

They are running out of time, for sure. 25-31…that’s a lot of ground to make up.
They’re 5 games out of a top 4 seed. Their record doesn’t matter when all the teams are jumbled together
We went 3-13 in January. Things can change quickly

Yeah the Lakers are seen to be pretty deep at the 4/5 positions. That’s why Thomas Bryant asked out lol
Bryant signed with the Lakers to start at center. Davis was going to start at PF. And Bryant is good enough to start in the league. Getting him really helps the Nuggets.

I know I'm a broken record here, but saying a 25-31 team adding Bamba/Beasley/Vanderbilt/DLo is worth 24 wins going from a 36 win team to 60(or better than 60 lol) is silly.
I'm with you, shel. D'Lo is a poor defender. Beasley is a poor defender.
Thinking that the Lakers now have a championship-quality roster is indicative of only looking at the offensive side of the ball. Yes, replacing Pat Bev with Beasley means the Lakers will score more points than before. But they will also give up a lot more points.
And, yeah, LeBron's left foot hurts all the time. The idea that the foot would make it all the way through the playoffs is just comical. But I don't think that the Lakers will even make the play-in.
The Jazz just beat the Raptors and still have a 2.5-game lead on the Lakers. They may be trying to tank, but that team is going to struggle to tank. OKC and POR are both definitely not trying to tank, and both of them have a two-game lead on the Lakers. And the Lakers have to pass all three of those teams to make the play-in. We'll know a lot after the next three games: @GSW, @POR, and vs. us.

I have seen on here that we have the easiest remaining schedule and that is true (LINK ).
We have 25 games left. 14 are road games. 4 back to back, 2 on the road, 2 at home.
The last 7 games look super tough to me.
@GS, @DEN, LAC, SAC, MEM, NYN, @MIN
All teams fighting for playoff seating.
I'm hoping for 15-10, but 14-11 or 13-12 seem more realistic. 44-38 seems like the best outcome we can hope for. Historically that is a playin team..

But it moved the needle from probably no play in to probably in the play in and that's about it

All in all, they're going nowhere this season. Nothing has changed in that regard.

absolutely do not think they can beat any team in a series.

You should be asking if they can even make the play in, because even that isn't likely.

and they have zero chance to win a title, they are not a "true contender" as KoC says.
quote:
They went from a team with zero title chance to a team with zero title chances

clearly not a threat in the West because they now have DLo/Vanderbilt/Beasley/Bamba.

What is the legit % chance they make the playoffs? It's wayyyyyyy below 50%.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills right now.

They were some really good moves.
They have a solid team.
Don't think they will win a chip but point still remains.

This thread reminds me of the advice they give young litigators: You will not always be right, but you must sound like you are.
