Looking to try out some caviar.

Planning on doing potato chips with some crème fraiche.

Albertsons has Romanoff black lumpfish and vodka lumpfish for ~$9. Is this a good place to start or should I try something else? I’d prefer to pick it up in Baton Rouge and don’t want to break the bank yet if I don’t have to.

I'm not sure $9 caviar is the best way to introduce yourself to caviar. I'd go to somewhere like Whole Foods and look to spend $30-50 on a tin minimum to at least try something decent.

Sour cream & onion pringles(don't knock it till ya try it), good mexican crema and sevruga, caluga or sturgeon. Good caviar is not cheap, and is always refrigerated unlike the black/red shelf stable product.

I've tried it about 5 or 6 times and it's just not for me. I love fish and seafood but there's just something that always tastes 'off'to me.

Get it from the fridge department. All caviar is 20% off at Whole Foods until Valentine's Day.

But yeah, it's $30 minimum.

That's not caviar... it comes from a fish that looks like this

They usually have golden osetra and Russian osetra at the WF in BR. Get one of those. I believe they have blini and creme fraiche as well. Always delightful. Maybe some chives if you want, but it's fine without them.

Just catch a choupique and eat it straight from the fish.

Potato Chips are actually a common vessel that are used to eat caviar, even in somewhat fancy restaurants.
