I knew it was coming. Just the frickin dread. Probably ain't a good way to think but can't help it most the time. Wasn't even fun. Just piss drunk alone in a seat at a shite hole bar. Ain't sick or hurting just sad.

Forgive yourself and take it one day at a time.

If you are on a trip from New York to LA and you get a flat tire in St Louis you dont have to return to New York to start over again. Change the tire and keep on the move to your destination.

Yes it does. Start a relapse journal and write down any triggers leading up to it and then how much you relapsed. Then analyze your journal entry for how you could have avoided the situation or gotten yourself out of it.

Mistakes and relapses absolutely suck but everyone has them. What’s important is not that you relapsed but that you learn from it and improve for your next test and temptation.

Get back on the wagon man.

Sorry to hear that buddy. I don’t know that there’s much that can be said other than just get back on that horse and try to mitigate the circumstances that led to this relapse. Pulling for ya man.

Good. Beat yourself up but only a little bit. You probably know what triggered it this time. You can use that to avoid it again.

Get your arse to a meeting or to rehab. Whichever worked for you before.

You were drinking alone.... Reach out to whoever helped you before.

Well most importantly is that you bring yourself back up. Whenever you think about drinking again just think about how bad you feel after you do it. It will help you to decide not to drink. Try picking up a new hobby. Eating healthy and exercising daily will make you feel better. Good luck.

From someone that's been there beating yourself up will only lead to another let down. It happened. You know how you feel about it now start worrying now about day 1 becoming day 2 and so on.

I’m currently working on being sober for a while. Just something I need to do for myself.

It’s not easy, to be honest. You slipped up, forgive yourself, learn from it, and move ahead.

Every man moment of your life is a chance to make a new decision. Don’t beat yourself up with guilt, put it behind you and start again. Get whatever support and help you need to stay focused. Look at it as a new opportunity to deepen your commitment to sobriety. I believe in you!

I knew it was coming

This is a loaded phrase and admission. Did you know a relapse was coming in the days or hours leading up to sitting alone drunk in a bar? If so, then next time reach out when you get to that point.

-or-

Did you know a relapse was coming eventually because most people do relapse? Did you think a relapse was part of the process, and did you keep the excuse of a relapse in your back pocket to break out when you really wanted a drink.

Only you can answer those questions, and you need to be honest with yourself.
