Poole plays too much all the time. She isn't good. I don't understand the thinking around it. Carson and Poa are both much better. Assuming no injuries or foul trouble, Poa and Smith should get all the minutes the starters are off the court.

I trust KM decision in coaching, more than my or your coaching abilities. I coached for years even won a state championship. I bow to Mulkey's decisions. Trust HER!

Didn't think Mulkey would forget how to coach or have such limited knowledge of her players abilities so quickly.

She said that Poole was in the game because she was a better passer and could pass through the zone defense better.

Oh well. Chicken, we had a good run but you can go ahead and shut the board down. Texas Tiger says we shouldn't discuss the teams anymore cuz the coaches know more than us...

I like Carson's hair style better than Pooles.

No one mentions it but depth is a problem. Now, we do have some decent players coming off the bench, but it will take Kim another year to have what SHE wants as far as depths. We're not quite there yet but by golly we ain't far off.

I agree about depth, a year away. I think a reasonable expectation for the year would be sweet 16/ elite 8.
Next year with the influx of talent, we should have the depth.
I also think we need to do a better job substituting witching the game.
For instance, get Reese out the game with 1:30 in the quarter, then she gets the 3 minutes in between quarters…. In real time that could be a 4-5 minute break, you do that twice and instead of her play 38 minutes she’s now playing 28-30

This year was always a bit of a transition year, 90% of the roster is brand new and have never played with each other before. Even withstanding the soft OOC schedule, to get to 10-0 in conference play is a big accomplishment. Reese obviously is an outstanding, elite transfer but most of the other transfers Kim brought in are playing their roles until Kim brings in more talent and depth though her HS recruiting (which she signed the #1 class this fall) and another round through the portal.

Kim's Baylor teams had McDonalds on McDonalds all Americans starting 1-5 in her lineups and McDonald's All Americans coming off her bench. Thats how deep and talented her teams were. Getting to that point doesn't happen over night. She has signed 3 of those caliber players in her first two recruiting classes.

But you get Reese back next year, Flaujae and Sa'Myah are contributing big to the team this year, you have the #1 class coming in. Add in another big transfer or two, they will be in a much much better situation next season.

Couch said Poole is a strong passer and had a good chance of passing the ball into the zone.

I heard that comment... Not trying to be mean, or to act smarter than the coach, but that statement did not compute. She says some things from time to time that really confuses me.

It seems like she's intent on being the contrarian. When the team plays great, she usually finds something to nitpick (like most coaches), but when they play poorly, she just heaps praise on the other team, and pretends that her team didn't make tons of mistakes. She also said Tennessee should have been ranked because of their schedule, but the problem is that pretty much all of those good teams have beaten Tennessee. The only game they've won against a team that has been ranked at any point, from what I see, is Colorado. They weren't ranked at the time, but were in the poll at one point.

So as much as I respect her as a coach and person, I tend to take her answers with a grain of salt. I think she's trying to either motivate, or protect her players. There's no other way for me to make sense of some of the things she says.

I rewatched the game and she was spot on. There were a ton of deflections and Poole was the only one that consistently got the ball where it was supposed to be plus her bigger frame made it harder for the smaller defenders to stay on her. She used her body to help shield the ball as opposed to fancy dribbling and getting it picked like Morris did.

I'm sure the Rant knows better than CMM who has 3 natty's and sees these players every day.

She had several turnovers, and multiple bad passes that were deflected, and luckily landed in the hands of a teammate. But more importantly, this is a season long observation. Poole has had major turnover problems, and aside from passing issues, she often loses the ball on the dribble when trying to penetrate. Morris might get too fancy at times, but she is clearly the most skilled on the team at dribble penetration, and she beats teams more often than not when she attempts it. Poole might have a bigger body, but she is easily as prone to losing the ball due to just being rather clunky with the ball in her hands.

Right lol!! I just need Angel to stop holding the ball in the post and waiting on the double team to come.

Yeah, we sit here, saying nothing but good things about her, and what a great job she's doing, and then when any one of us questions one thing, we're suddenly heretics who don't trust the coaches. Coaches don't do everything right, all the time, and you don't have to be a coach to see certain obvious things. Sometimes coaches play a hunch, and then try to defend it by saying something that doesn't make sense. Sometimes they are too loyal to certain players, or just plain miscalculate. I don't see why no one should be able to question that.
