This is spot on and why it will be really hard to be a top MBB program in the country. Why is Mulkey getting the players? Because she's a fricking legend and a proven coach and winner, portal and HS players want to play for her. People need to temper their expectations.
You're absolutely right, baseball is one of the top programs, as is football. Football, baseball and WBB can lure top players and coaches from the portal and HS a lot easier than MBB.

Really and truly, he is contradicting himself, because he talks about wanting his players to prepare your mind, body and taking care of your nutrition and that is part of culture. Making players take care of their bodies, prepare their minds ( be mentally tough ) and eating right to maximize performance, is all a part of building a certain behavior, discipline and culture.

What?
As if that matters. How many times have Patino, Sampson, Calipari, Self, been caught breaking the rules? They keep getting hired.

You guys live in a make believe world.
Did Miles break the rules? Did he get fired for breaking the rules?
He got fired because his team could no longer compete.

There’s no innovation or distinct characteristics schematically that would lead anyone to believe he’s capable of elevating the program.

Just curious, what did you view as Wads innovation or distinct schematic characteristics (outside of paying players from his wife’s bank account)?

No way the guy that washed sweaty towels for the Clemson BB team is talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Madking, I don't completely agree with your post. LSU has always gotten good to great players for basketball. Not quite to the level our football does, but not as bad as most people think.

For instance, our all-time team would run anybody out of the gym not named UNC or UCLA. You may read that, and instantly disagree. Start comparing and breaking down the matchups with the Kentucky's (and others) all-time teams to ours, and you'll see my point. Also, a little known fact is we are top 10 all-time for signing McDonald's AA players. We haven't exactly been paupers in getting basketball talent to BR.

I've always said that with the right coach (Dale or Wade), we can win big here. I'm on record REPEATEDLY that we should have just rode out the Wade situation. Let's hope Woodward can find a good one if McMahon doesn't work out.

No he isn't. Wade is saying culture doesn't matter if you aren't winning. It's not an earth shattering observation but true none the less.

But you’re talking mostly about the Dale Brown era 30 years ago. We had 5 McDonald AAs in the span of 5 years along with some Parade AAs to go with them but have only had like 3-4 of those in the last 25 years.

The difference is, those teams could field many teams equal to LSU's best.

I agree though, getting talent has not been the problem. The problem has been the lack of commitment by the Administration.
Brown, Brady and Wade have proven it can be done.

Sorry, not listening to advice from Will Wade on how to build a program
Not surprising coming from you.

Will wade built a destroyed program (thanks Trent and Johnny) back up to a consistent winner. Did he destroy? Sure, his actions unraveled it. However, he brought the basketball program back up from the dead.

Also, why are people acting like what he did was so bad? The NCAA's stupid arse antiquated rules (and the org itself) are where the anger should reside for the most part. The dude did what has been running rampant in college recruiting for years and sadly, wasn't allowed by the NCAA until Wade's tenure here at lsu was over.

Did he do wrong? Sure, but the core issue is the shitty NCAA and their refusal to modernize. It's why I imagine in 10 years or so, the NCAA will only exists for your "Olympic" type sports.

What's the purpose of the NCAA now with NIL?

No one should listen to him.

It was time for him to go and it is time to quit talking about him.

Wade would still be here had he not used his on account. Everyone cheats, but it was how he did it.

It does matter and he is limiting his chances for getting hired again. All of those guys you mention have won championships and are shady. What's Wade's pitch? I'm even more shady AND I haven't won a championship?

I'm living in a make believe world?

You certainly are.
How many of those "Great Coaches" won a Championship in their first five years.
How many won a Championship in a non traditional, non Blue Blood University?

It took Saban a few years at LSU, then Alabama to build his program to a Championship.
It took the Great Orgeron three years.
If BK doesn't win a Natty in three years, will you say he can't coach? O did and folks swear he can't coach.
