Two targets: Monte Morris & Gary Trent Jr.

In all seriousness, are these who we should be trying hard to target?
Morris first:
He's a 6'2 point guard (unlike Graham)
Great facilitator (6:1 ast:tov ratio)
Above average 3pt shooter (39% from 3 his entire career)
He's making chump change for 1.5 more years, however he is starting and is arguably a 5th option offensively, but he doesn't clog the lane. While not a great defender, he's serviceable. He is starting and while a solid starter, would make for an undersized starting backcourt.
GTJ is a 6'5 SG moreso than a wing who can get his own shot.
Still young (24)
Solid 3pt shooter (36.5% this year, 38.5% his career)
Decent, but not strong defensively
He however is about to open a can of worms in terms of cost (player option) and will likely move you into luxury tax territory.
While we have wings such as Herb & Naji getting minutes, Jose being a solid backup, I do wonder if we're better off using them to somehow get GTJ from Toronto & Morris from Washington. Both teams are in asset acquisition mode it seems, both have unhappy guys (moreso toronto).

I’d look at Jalen Mcdaniels from the Hornets also

We don’t need to give up much of anything for GTJ. Toronto knows they’re going to loae him the offseason, possibly for nothing, so i think right before the deadline they will take the best offer they have on the table.
Graham, Hayes and a protected 1st should get it done, but like every other possible deal we have to be patient as theres still time before the deadline which means teams will hold out to see if they get a better offer.
This is not a case of CJ last year where the team wants to let him go where he wants.

Yeah i'd like him but idk how we afford him long term. he's looking at +25m/year

Buddy hield is also available. Graham, Jax, Kira, and a lottery protected 1st. Hield has been lighting it up this year

Duarte is also available, could likely send an unprotected pick and have him added.

I have never bought that narrative. That may be what they told him since the Pels were clearly the best situation for him and he probably would have "picked" us, but the 2 other teams reportedly in the mix, the Knicks and Bulls IIRC, all had contracts with future years on them. We were the only one sending out what they wanted, a 1st and expiring deals to clear money to go after Grant. From Portland's perspective it was CJ and Nance for Grant and Hart.

Were 2.5 games from being out of the play in. We better do something.

No way in hell, I'm giving up a 1 for Buddy

He's shooting 42% on 9 attempts a game. That is sorely needed. I would easily give a lottery protected 1st to turn graham in buddy

I’d like a true point guard to help this offense but if not I say reliable wings who can shoot and play above average defense. Herb and Trae are improving but can’t be counted on 100% yet. When we get to playoffs, we’ve seen that teams are gonna double Zion and BI and force the others to make shots.
I’d be ok looking at Malik Beasley, Trent Jr, Kuzma, etc.

We're barely 2 games up on being out of the playoffs, not good.
And yet, we've been decimated by injuries and we're also the 4 seed and 2 games out of the 3 seed.

Shooting is 100% needed, but the affordable shooters mostly aren’t great on D (if the player we are adding is good at everything then they aren’t going to be affordable), so we better pickup some help to bolster the paint D behind them or we’ll just trade one issue for another issue.
I know I’ve said it 100x but picking up a true stretch 4 with some size behind Zion is key…I love that Willy has been playing Larry at the 4 some lately…those have been rare plus minutes** (and Larry has been a capable outside shooter since about 2018-19 even though he isn’t shooting much lately). If Larry is healthy, then he may be able to fill those backup 4 minutes and let Jax be more of a 3rd string development/energy guy. If the Pels go that route then they can probably get away with a Hield/Bogdanovic/etc that is more O focused.
IMO if we can pickup some size (even over a little mobility) while adding shooting then it will help balance the floor and the Pels can get back to being dangerous.
**Pels went small ball in the late 2nd and 3rd last night and got killed…I don’t think it’s unrelated.
