The guy you talking about is a very good person. You are not telling the complete story. When he suggested you build your own brush piles your smart arse answer was. Why should I when I can fish yours. You poured gas on the fire! You live on the lake therefore you have better and easier opportunity to build your own. The lake is 10 miles long and has over 1100 piers. If it wasn’t for the hard work of others would you be fishing this small area? Hell No. Several of us build brush piles. Yes, we can fish each others piles but we don’t. It’s called RESPECT. Evidently you don’t have any. You say you need to put up cameras and that you fear for your family. You must enjoy the harassment you claim because you continue to piss him off. You started this conversation wanting opinions and answers. It very simple. 1st Grade level answer. Build your own and stop fishing everyone else’s. Problem Solved

Lonnie Utah covered why we shouldn't all put our own brush piles out.
I'd be a smart arse as well if somebody pulled up to me on a public lake telling me I shouldn't be fishing there because it was their spot.
quote:
Here's the problem with that mentality on a public lake.
BAW #1 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #2 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #3 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #4 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #5 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #6 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #7 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #8 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #9 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
BAW #10 puts out his own brush pile and tells everyone they can't fish it.
Etc, etc, etc...
Pretty soon, the average joe or some visitor from out of town/state has nowhere to fish on a PUBLIC lake because everyone carved out territories.
I'd be a smart arse as well if somebody pulled up to me on a public lake telling me I shouldn't be fishing there because it was their spot.

So this leads to a question: If you find a brush pile are you supposed to check with those 1,100 pier owners to see who "owns" that brush pile? Also, how would I know that the claimant actually "owns" that brush pile?

Public lake. Want to fish your own brush piles and not worry about anyone else, build your own lake. Otherwise learn how to get along. Just admit you are the harassing a-hole so we can get this party started

Public lake = not your private brush pile. Get your own pond on your own land if you want that.
Now what would be awesome is if all these people each made a brush pile to make the whole lake better.

This is getting better than an E F Hutton thread.
Eta:
This is some straight up McCarthyism. And I like it.

I'm telling the story as it happened. I promise you and him I meant no disrespect or anything of the sort. I thought he was joking telling me to "put out your own piles". When he got tough and started harassing me off the spots my "smart arse answer" as you say was "it's a public lake". I wasn't pouring gas on anything, but speaking facts.
It's like I told your friend, I found those piles with side imaging. It's 2023, every boat has those graphs to find brushpiles like those in the flats. Those piles are fair game. Being harassed every time I throw on any stick I found out there when he motors over and says "mine" is comical and absurd.
Plus, I've been more than reasonable with him. It's like I told him last Thursday. All he had to do was state calmly that he had a tournament Saturday and I would have left the spot alone the rest of the week. That is exactly what I offered, but he didn't want any of it saying "but you gonna be back here next week, and the next on my spot blah blah". If he wanted to keep it fresh before that tournament I understood, that's more than 99% of other fishermen would have offered him and he was still harassing me being around it.
As far as the "safety" part, I'm just saying that I keep my boat and our vehicles in the boathouse/carport. Not saying he'd do anything rash, I only know him from these interactions, but I don't want an interaction over a fishing spot to lead to something stupid regarding personal property.

So what's the unwritten rule on this place about dock fishing? You can only fishing your own docks?

This is the exact same stupid shite that’s been going on for years on Catahoula Lake with duck blinds.
If you make an improvement to a public spot that improvement just became public.
If you don’t want someone fishing your piles don’t put the shite in a public lake.

You’re a fricking idiot. I don’t even fish this lake and I’m tempted to launch there and drag every pile I can find off a flat just because such idiots like you exist. Get a grip. It’s a public lake and you’re a dumbass
