That's not the whole story. McDaniels basically took the Colts job because Belichick was so reluctant in his praise and so uncommunicative with eveyone, that McDaniels had no idea where he stood with him at that point as Brady was getting 40+.
Once he accepted the Colts job, the Pats reached out and basically said 'what are you doing, we love you here' after saying nothing of the sort for years and then McDaniels went back to NE.
I'm sure the Irsay bizzaro drug addict shite didn't help matters, either...

For this one, there's usually a loophole for performers that they can still smoke on stage. I only know this because when NY banned smoking in doors, Doug Stanhope did a special in NY and smoked the entire time on stage and explained why he could smoke but the audience couldn't. And said "If it bothers you, try voting next time. But instead you just leave that to old people with breathing problems who will never come to my shows anyway"

Chapelle also uses the loop hole, it's a "stage prop" loop hole
