You were wrong enough to bring another website to try and prove your point. You and Bronc seem more invested in seeing it succeed than those posters in seeing it fail

I enjoy the crashing of the narratives, and seeing people try to reconcile them in humorous ways, sure, but mostly I just find Cameron’s success a fascinating case study in cinema mass appeal
Top Gun and Marvel are fascinating for similar reasons. But Jimbo’s a 1 of 1 in filmmaking at this point.

While Avatar 3 is already in the works, James recently said that Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 will be cancelled if the sequel under performs. He said that they will complete the story with Avatar 3 "if it’s just not profitable" to continue."
At 34 days domestically (on a Wed), Maverick made $4.3M
At 34 days (also on a Wed) Avatar made $1.8M

In mentioning that I've not seen it yet, I don't know too many who have. Went with the family to see the 1st movie, and it was all the rage. Everyone was talking about it then.
Now? Seems pretty 'meh'. Not a bad movie, but sort of been there and done that.
Saw No Way Home, and recall it generated a lot of buzz.
Has there ever been a show or movie that you disliked that you'd say is successful? It seems like that's not possible for you.
I've stated before, I didn't care for the movie, it was the exact same movie as the first except in the water. The third might as well be in the desert with the same bad guy and same ending. But regardless if you've talked about it with your buddy at work, doesn't mean there isn't any buzz around it. I mean were the numbers for the first movie a lie too?
If you don't think there was buzz around it, you could hae used a common sense thing and looked at movie theatre showings. I look every week to see if there's something worth seeing. There's been like 4 movies shown at the theatre's here because they both are just filled with showings of nothing but Avatar. People are going to see it. I'm not a fan of it, but people flocked to the theatre to see it.

The narrative of 4 posters? IIRC most said it would make tons of money. I also find it fascinating since I’m a nerd but have no plans to see WOW in theaters just like I never saw the original.

Amongst others, sure.
Several people that also got into their feels cause Cameron isn’t making the movies they want him to anymore, or spiral cause they hate the film and want to come up with excuses for its success besides just admitting people really like it and Cameron’s good at what he does…. But mostly I just find his accomplishments fascinating from a cinema and human perspective.

I think there may be some truth to the narrative that once the World Cup was over, the international audience was then free to go watch the movie. Usually, there isn’t such an uptick after the first weekend, but Way of Water did exceptionally well.

Isn't the rumor volcano-based Navi?

Yet, Top Gun: Maverick totaled 1.48 billion while Avatar 2 (still in theaters) is at 1.95 billion.
Pretty sure it surpassed Maverick.
