MSY Parking garage is super safe because while its technically Orleans Parish property it isn't located in Orleans Parish.

It's my understanding that you can make a reservation to ensure a parking place. It fills up fairly fast, especially from Fri thru Sat.evenings.

Parked there multiple times for long periods with zero issues. It’s pretty busy and is patrolled

MSY isn't in New Orleans. It's in neighboring Jefferson Parish. Makes all the difference.

Parked there about a month ago, had no issues. It did cost me $88 for Friday-Monday parking though lol.

Warning:

A friend of my girlfriend’s parked there in long term last year (might have been late 2021), woman in her late 60’s. Returned to her car in the evening around 7pm, turned the corner onto her row to find a van parked next to her car, and several men looting her car. Before she could even process what was happening, one of the men noticed her ran toward her and punched her in the face, got in the van and peeled off. Full on sprint. Grown man. She hit the deck and suffered a broken arm as a result. Airport security seemed more concerned about her filing a complaint than anything else. Cops’ attitude was basically “sh*T happens.”

Not a word if this is exaggerated and possibly the angriest I’ve ever been. This person is also an attorney. When I asked about a lawsuit, she responded, “why waste my time and money? Even if I win, the city doesn’t pay.”

Not saying I don't believe you, but I don't believe you. Mainly because the van "peeling off" would still have to go through the ticketing booth to get out of the lot, so unless we are to assume it just ran through the gates without stopping this is BS. Further, there are cameras everywhere there so it would be an absolute slam dunk case and would be all over the local news if true.

I understand how it sounds. She did file a report to airport security. Why was it not on the news? I don’t know.

And I don’t give a rat’s arse if you or anyone else doesn’t believe me. This happened. Exactly as I described it. Without exaggeration. I don’t post in threads to fear monger.

Believe me or not. You might be safe there, you might not.

I am not. It happened. Exactly as described. No agenda here, only facts.

Don’t believe me?

So what.

This happened. Exactly as described. Last time I’ll post on the matter.
