I havnt played much gta but decided to start the 5th one. I loved red dead 2 so much and thought this wouldn’t be hard to pick up but I don’t understand how to play the game or if I’m doing it right. I figured out you have to switch characters to get through but that’s about it. Any pointers would be helpful. How should I proceed through this game?

My favorite is San Andreas. While I like the graphics of later releases better, San Andreas was the most fun (imo).

I play gta online regularly still and totally disagree regarding the gameplay. Largely the same as past titles.

What are your issues?

It is like a decade old. Are you factoring that in?

It's not just that. It's the Rockstar model that they absolutely refuse to let go of. You can get used to it or it can drive you mad and stop playing.

It took a while for me to get used to it.

Ignoring the controls complaint, there is a ton of stuff to do and explore.

You will get used the controls and yes this a game that is 10 years old, so remember that.

The only thing I can explain is play the game and hit all the side quests (well most of them) through to the end. It is really fun and Rockstar may never make another one like this in our woke world.

It pretty much guides you through the game and you will get to points that will pretty much make you complete a task to open up other ones. It is open, but guided.

If you are cool with guides and cheats, look them up. An example is stock market manipulation with Lester assassinations

You rob people, blow shite up, and punch hookers. What's not to like?

I cant remember now. Is this the one with the bald guy that also started to appear in movies and tv shows around similar times?

i think he was in Walking dead.

Anyway its basically the same as red dead no? You have side missions and story missions and you drive vehicles instead of a horse.

the reason the game is still going, i guess, is the online play. Which is something i have never played.

ok this is the one i was thinking about but i feel like i played it a couple of systems ago.

And the stock market is called BAWSAQ? How fitting for this board.

Haven’t played in many years, but it’s very similar to RDR in terms of open world exploring and heading to the blinking icons on the map to start missions or side quests. Each of the 3 characters have their own missions and sometimes they work together to complete the missions. You have to complete them to advance the story and open new missions just like RDR.

It does start somewhat slow with basic driving missions and low end stuff to get you used to the controls. But mid game and late missions are big time heists and such.

I mostly played Michael and Franklin as normal decent criminals (like a good Arthur). And I played Trevor as a complete psychopath (like bad Arthur).

Enjoy.

I don't understand, it's literally the same game. You have things on your map, go to those things and do them.

I am pretty sure I have bought GTA 5 about 4 times with the upgrades, etc. Never have finished it. I suck at the gameplay.

Here is one thing you have to do, go steal a jet fighter from Fort Zancudo.

Once you unlock the 2nd airfield up in the desert and have parachutes, load up on armor and give it a shot.

You have probably 3 options.

1. Bust the gate front or rear gate in a fast ride.
2. Parachute in, you want to wait to pull that chute as low as possible.
3. Come in fast with the helicopter.

You pretty much are going to be at 5 star wanted and they will through everything at you. The jets are in different areas randomly, so you are going to die a lot trying.

If you make it into one, take off fast and get low into canyons. They are going to be launching rockets at you. go full throttle until the 5 star disappears. Land it at the airfield and park in the hanger and you will have for the game.

It comes with rockets and guns, so go have some fun shooting down police helicopters or airliners.

You can try and get one of the larger transport ships, but they are so slow you will usually get blown up. You can also get a tank, but same thing you are fighting hard to escape.

It is pretty easy to get a airliner at the main airport though and escape.

What’s so popular about GTA online? I never played it but clearly it’s been a hit for rockstar to keep the servers going for a decade.

Me too. Xbox one s. Been playing for many years now. They keep giving us DLCs about once every 3 months so it does not get old. That said, these new taxi missions are dogshit for pay.

I do love the new acid lab. Takes 3 hours to fill up and I always sell in a full lobby. Which gives you the bonus. It pays about 586k.

Every other sell mission I do in invite only sessions. Just seems doing deliveries in public sessions is begging to get griefed by Jet assholes or noob-mobile MK2 griefers.

To give you an idea on how old this game is, I owed it for the PlayStation 3

The missions are color coordinated:
- Franklin = Green
- Michael = Blue
- Trevor = Orange
Don’t try orange missions with Franklin or Michael, not gonna work.

Wait to do Lester’s assassinations until after you complete the final mission to maximize profits. During the mission, Lester will tell you what company’s stock will skyrocket so invest in that one pre-assassination then after a few days invest in the company he says will bust to profit off of the rebound.

O, and you can only take home 4 strippers:
- Infernus,
- Sapphire,
- Juliet,
- Nikki.

I mean, how is it that you can play RDR2 but not understand how to play GTA 5? If anything RDR2 is more complicated.

Both games have extremely overpowered powered lock-on mechanics though that basically result in the game playing itself during the shooting segments. In RDR2 in particular, I would literally press L2 just to locate any enemies that I hadn't killed yet.
