Hillar Moore is effectively asking that the “blighted property” laws used to shut down crack houses be usable on the hotels if there are half as many calls over a year as there are rooms in the hotel.
Once that threshold is hit, procedures will start to require fixes and a judge could revoke their license.

Sounds like a good idea.
Which scumbag politician at the state or federal level will step in and try to stop this?

It's a nice round number, but this quote makes me nervous:
While this sounds good in theory, I would like to know how many service calls a "normal" hotel receives in a year. If it's far below that, then fine. I just don't want this to become the equivalent of a speed limit sign; everyone goes faster, but the government gets to decide who to punish.
quote:
Chief Administrative Officer Glenn Curtis adds, “So, it’s based on the number of rooms the hotel has over the number of calls that are received within a calendar year. So, it’s a .5 ratio. So, if it’s 100 rooms, if you get 50 calls, which you would be surprised, you’ll get that number pretty quick, then we can take action with the owners on their permit and try to get them back into compliance.”

If the OYO's go away we will see these people on the street. OYO is like tranny hooker headquarters. Absolute dumpster fires.

Good.
I hope Moore doesn’t retire. His replacement is going to be some Soros funded screw up like New Orleans has.

Do this for apartments and BR improves drastically in under a decade

I agree with what they are trying to achieve but it seems like this could be easily manipulated. Hotel A can create issues and/or call the cops on there competitors to get them shut down in order to bolster their own business. Why pick on just hotels and not apply it to the broader population with apartments and houses?

So it'll just be a big Crack hotel instead of a big Crack hotel.

I’m pretty sure the police know which ones are legit issues and have probably been advocating for this behind the doors.

Off the top of my head, pretty much every hotel at Airline and 12, with the possible exception of Holiday Inn. They apparently spun off the problem units to another chain.

Shut down the motels on Boardwalk, Gwenedelle, Mead, and Reiger and you’ll solve most of the area’s crime problems.

Seems to have worked off Acadian.
Shitbag hotels are gone, which means the crackheads and hoes have to go back to Bawell St.

Terrific! We have an enforcement mechanism to shut down seedy hotels. That will surely prevent drug use from happening.

Denham Springs has taken a serious downturn because of shitty arse hotels and that stupid Truck Stop.
Amazing our Council & Mayor have done nothing to fix it.
