Original Trailer

For anyone who has ever been curious about this movie, it is, for the first time that I can recall, on a widely-distributed streaming platform.

This is an...interesting movie starring
Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill set in West Berlin during the Cold War. They are married with a child and go through a breakup and...stuff happens.

This movie is BONKERS. If you want a (very) weird, psychological, kind of cosmic horror, kind of breakup film, go for it. I can't really describe it in words and I would suggest not looking up spoilers or plot summaries.

The last gif is one of the more famous scenes in cult horror history. The actress was rumored to become severely psychologically damaged after the role and it has been reported she attempted suicide.

I actually watched this for the first time in December. It was even widely unavailable on Blu Ray until last year when they did a re-release. It was like $100+ on the used market prior to that re-release. I could never find it on streaming but this random indie movie company had it in December.

This is one of my favorite films. And it is absolutely bonkers. If you’re looking for a film that you sit back after it’s over and ask wtf did I just watch, this is it. And I mean that in a good way. One key to the film, as he was making it, the director was working through the emotional and mental anguish brought on by the end of his marriage. And he puts everything he’s feeling on film. I hope a lot of you will give this one a chance, it’s special.

He’s great in this. But the performance by Isabelle Adjani in this is on another level. I would put her performance second all time, with only Maria Falconetti in The Passion of Joan of Arc topping it. I’m so excited people are going to be seeing this for the first time! Can’t wait for feedback! Big thanks to Slow for getting this recommendation out there.

I love both of those.

I spent a lot of time being ridiculed for my event horizon love, but I learned on here that I’m not alone

It's more weird than gross or scary.

This. I was infatuated with her the first time I saw this because she was that perfect mix of being both beautiful and cute back then

Fun fact, she dated Daniel Day-Lewis back in the day

I highly recommend the Mondo Vision Special Edition Blu-ray release. The digitally restored transfer is gorgeous and the packaging/extras are awesome.

Definitely worth the ~$40 since the movie was impossible to find until it came to Shudder, and who knows how long it'll be available for streaming on their service.

Hopefully we'll get a 4K release in the US someday.

Every time I wind up cancelling AMC+ and/or Shudder, they do this to me.

I was annoyed that I paid $5 for that sub when this came to AMC+ when I still had it for $1.99/mo (which ends in a couple weeks for me)

Yeah just as an FYI, Shudder has done limited releases of other rare films. They did a French Extremity month and those never came back (some did end up elsewhere but only temporary). They had the Devils a few years ago for like a week or something and I haven't seen that on a streaming service since.
