It's closing tomorrow.
Parents were told last night in an e-mail.
I guess these kids will be watching movies today and tomorrow!
They are referring kids to Ecole.
I guess the school ran out of borrowing ability.

Ridgewood Preparatory School in Metairie will close its doors for good Wednesday afternoon, according to an email sent to parents late Monday.
The email, sent from headmaster Milton J. Montgomery, cited "persistent low enrollment" as the reason.
"I have examined all possible financial options to rectify the situation, but without remedy," the letter said.

From the current Wikipedia article on Ridgewood:
"A FOX 8 investigation revealed that there are three tires on a school bus that are almost 15 years old. The bus takes students on field trips and the football team to games. The Tire Safety Group says that schools should remove all front bus tires after six years but under no scenario should a tire be on a bus longer than 10. The headmaster, M.J. Montgomery, Jr, wouldn't speak to FOX 8 on camera. He invited them into his office but said that their entire discussion was off the record. The only thing that they were allowed to say is that he has no comment on the issue."

I am surprised they are still around. The football stadium and field looks like it hasn’t been touched since 1995.

I remember back in the day their girls basketball team was a powerhouse in Class 1A

My son went there. It was a good school where kids could get a traditional education.
When Covid hit, they sent the kids home and the distance learning plan they came up with basically didn’t work and we ended up homeschooling my son out of necessity.
I basically gave a years worth of tuition and got nothing in return because of Covid. I imagine the same can be said for everyone there.
If they didn’t monopolize that situation into something positive it’s on them. I do know their headmaster was a Korean War vet.
The Korean was was fought in the 50’s.

Seems crazy they couldn't make this decision 3 weeks ago prior to Christmas and give the parents and students Christmas break to find somewhere new.

Electricity and water probably about to get disconnected

I bet the parents that paid tuition for the year in full are probably pissed off.

My sister graduated from there in 1996. They were THE school for girls athletics in NOLA in the 1990’s.

Damn.. I don't know anything about this school, but usually when a school shuts down its usually at the end of the year or something. These dudes are shutting down in the middle of January.

Is Ridgewood the school I’m thinking of that has the huge green space behind it that they play a lot of flag football games?
Whatever school I’m thinking of was the worst private school I’ve ever seen in person. Buildings were sinking and had cracks all along the walls, broken windows, and weeds growing all over.
Sad looking little place

It always seemed to be the school someone went to when they failed out of another school.

The headmaster had a real estate agent there a while ago seeing how much they could get for the property.

headmaster probably got his insurance renewal bill in the mail.

That is really shitty. Basically this guy has known they were done for a while now and was hoping for some kind of miracle to happen I guess. He should have closed it when school was letting out for the summer or stated in early fall that they would be closing in December.

What happens to the kids when a school closes in the middle of the year?

That's a shame Fox 8 did that to Ridgewood. Watergate ruined journalism in this country. Nothing left but stupid, impotent little Woodward and Bernstein fantasies.
