More than half a million people who deposited money with collapsed crypto lender Celsius Network have been dealt a major blow to their hopes of recovering their funds, with the judge in the company’s bankruptcy case ruling that the money belongs to Celsius and not to the depositors.
The judge, Martin Glenn, found that Celsius’s terms of use — the lengthy contracts that many websites publish but few consumers read — meant “the cryptocurrency assets became Celsius’s property.”
The ruling underscores the Wild West nature of the unregulated crypto industry. On Thursday, New York Attorney General Letitia James moved to impose a kind of order, or at least legal repercussions, on Celsius founder Alex Mashinsky, whom she accused in a lawsuit of defrauding hundreds of thousands of consumers.

This is the year where everyone learned not to hold their coins on an exchange. Still people will be idiots and this will happen again in the future

I saw a friend sent me a photo of Ledger being sold in Best Buy a few weeks ago. “Not your keys” is definitely common knowledge in the crypto world now.

Should sound alarms in anyone’s head when someone says this. But people love to make excuses and ignore red flags.
This applies to more things than crypto, btw. I’m not singling them out, by any means.

Those flags were more red than the tide at Omaha Beach. Offering 13% when nowhere else can even approach that figure? It's straight out of the Bernie Madoff playbook.

Very true. Also the Allen Stanford high yield CD scheme.
And although Mr. Rocket was one of the main (and loudest) offenders, when some of us mentioned too good to be true yields, the response from more people than just Rocket was “OK, boomer”.

Wait until he gets hacked. Zero help and no accountability from hardware like Trezor …
