Peyton Hillis, the former Cleveland Browns star who was on the cover of the Madden 12 video game, was reportedly hospitalized after a swimming accident where he saved his kids from drowning.

Peyton remains in the intensive care unit for treatment on his lungs and kidneys, but doctors say his health is improving, according to his uncle.

One of my childhood friends' dad died rescuing him and his sister from a hotel pool. The light in the pool had some sort of wiring issue so it caused an electric current. From what he said they were in the shallow end and couldn't really feel it but then they got out to go dive in the deep end right where the light was and the current was way stronger. They jumped in and got really shocked to where they couldn't swim, so their dad jumped in and got them to the side, but by that time he got shocked bad as well and couldn't pull himself out

It wasn’t like they were drowning in a swimming pool. They were swept out in an ocean current and Hillis went after them and saved them. They’re all extremely lucky they didn’t die.

Guessing that you don't know that Hillis was a "gym rat" and "lunch pail guy"

A water rescue is a dangerous thing. So many cases where the rescuer ends up dead.

That happened to former KC Chiefs and NW St. running back Joe Delaney 40 years ago. He couldn't swim but he tried anyway to save 3 children who were floundering in a creek near Monroe. One of the kids managed to get to help but sadly, Delaney and the other 2 perished.
