Well yes. But what’s he being intubated for if his vitals are fine? That’s the question. Not why is he being sedated.
His vitals may be 'normal' due to a number of medications—still lots of unanswered questions.
Sadly, they may not yet have an idea of his brain activity and may be sedating him to let his body relax while they run the tests.

The “vitals are fine” is a fairly wildly nonspecific piece of information.
And prophylactic intubation for the sake of sedation is a very common practice. It happens before almost every surgery to people with “normal vitals.”
Nothing specific that points to what happens or what’s going to happen has been released that I have seen.

They intubate to allow time for the brain to heal from decreased flow. … don’t need, stress, anxiety, pain in a person that’s body needs rest to heal

I get the sentiment but they are waiting for the NFL to make a call like everyone else.
No. The people of this board know how to do everything better than anyone else.

It is scary. Baseball is a major risk too.

SIAP I wasn't watching the game, and then heard what happened. The Daily Mail has a large loop showing the hit and his getting up and then collapsing. The video isn't what I expected at all.

Yeah it's kind of a scary video of how fragile life is. You take a hard hit get up and then next thing you know you're unconscious.

I was watching live, thought nothing of it, seemed like a "routine" injury until it obviously was not.

Wait until you find out about car crashes, choking, drowning, etc
Can’t live your life in fear

Now think of all the hits to the chest in all the sports and the unbelievable rarity of this event.. Then go worry about something more common... like lightening strikes.

For what it’s worth, ESPN has a reported outside the hospital who was waiting on the conference. He announced that there will not be one, but he’s still outside and talking with players as they come/go and whatever hospital officials will talk with him.
So- no official press conference from the hospital, but there is at least one live reporter updating as he hears.

Sounds to me that nobody cares about the fans that died. And that’s my point.
Totally different. Fans and players realize it’s all for entertainment purposes and rarely have to come to realization how dangerous the “game” really is.

Why would health officials at a hospital hold a press conference for a patient ever

Right - all they would be able to do is say that he was admitted as a patient and is in critical condition. All other questions would be met with "privacy laws don't allow me to answer that..."

They do it all the time, like when Reagan was shot, John Lennon, etc.
