Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is poised to become the NFL’s all-time leader in completion percentage, as long as he makes at least 12 pass attempts on Monday against the Buffalo Bills.

Once Burrow attempts 12 more passes — no matter if they're all incomplete — he'll officially pass his childhood idol Drew Brees for the best completion percentage in NFL history.

But to be officially recognized in NFL records as the most accurate passer in league history, Burrow needs at least 1,500 attempts. He has 1,488 through Week 16 of the 2022 season.

He’s completed 69% of his passes going into Monday, Jimmy Garoppolo holds the second-place spot behind Brees with 67.6%.

This must be career. Ken Anderson 1982 is the single season record at 70.6%.

Right. And I'm guessing the minimum attempt threshold is the 1500 attempts they mention

Pretty impressive being it’s his first three years.

So is he surrounded by exceptional receivers, or does he throw a ball that’s exceptionally easy to catch?

So what exactly did that Ohio State coach see in the other quarterback which forced Burrow to look for greener pastures, and found them.

We owe a debt of gratitude to his clinical myopia.

Sometimes it's difficult to understand and reconcile what some coaches see, or think they see.

Disagree. Sometimes your program is just blessed with talent and you have to go with your gut. Saban benched Hurts for Tua and look at what Hurts is doing in the league. Meyer picked Haskins over Joe in 2018 and oh by the way, Haskins passed for 4,831 yards, 50 TDs and eight interceptions in 2018. Ohio State finished 13-1, and Haskins finished third in the Heisman voting. Joe’s 2018 was promising for an LSU QB at that stage of our program but nothing like what Haskins did.

Not saying this to disparage Joe. Just saying Urban’s choice was NOT a no brainer. At the end of the day, though, he did choose wrong and we are all the better for it.

Yes...it's career. If 1500 attempts were for a season...that would be an average of 88 passing attempts per game.

Way to figure that out.

I don't know about "idol" but Brees is the reason Burrow wears 9

Love Joe, but who cares what his career comp % is after 3 seasons?

Shouldn't we be looking at this after his career is over?

Burrow didn’t really find his accuracy until 2019. Ohio State didn’t let 2019 Joe Burrow walk. It’s possible he becomes the QB he is now at Ohio State but he wasn’t at the time.
