One thing is for absolutely sure and that JD has been guaranteed the starting job against FSU. He has to stay ahead of the other guys and win games to keep that job, but make no mistake, JD didn't come back to 'win' the starting qb job again...and I am quite sure Howard and Nuss are aware of that. Either one of them staying, especially Nuss, is how they are producing in the spring. Howard will most likely stay because he has 4 years of eligibility and LSU is only going to be a stronger overall team when he finally gets the nod in 2024. I see another season like this past one on offense, except teams are now more aware of how to stop our offense...stop JD running, and that is going to produce about 7 wins, maybe 8, but the rantbaws will be howling by mid year on why BK stuck with JD and didn't develop Nuss/Howard. IF Howard gets any significant playing time in 2023, LSU will should be a team ready to challenge in 2024/25/26 if Howard stays for his final year of eligibility.

Arizona St was a mess also

Exactly, my point is, he made the necessary changes to give his team a chance to win and wasn’t going to be pig headed about leaving his starter in. Did Tua get slightly injured and he decided to put Hurts in or was it because he wasn’t playing good? Can’t remember for sure. Looked it up after I posted and Tua was injured.

I think Daniels will have a monster year next year. However, I still think that he should have declared because of the QB situation in the NFL this year.

That is a great point but the lack of quality QBs in the NFL wont correct itself by next year. Also, the level of QB play has been dropping for several years.

JD will be OK waiting a year.

Doomed to another year of frustration.

This is the take I just don't understand...

"Another" year? After going 5-5 and 6-7, you were frustrated with going 9-3 in the regular season, beating Alabama at home, Auburn and Florida on the road, and winning the SEC West?
You're too good to enjoy that?

All of our quarterbacks, even the clipboard qb that won't see the field should spend the entire off season with Tom House and his guys training

I certainly hope that is the case. I may be in the minority, but I'm more anxious to see how the O-line and the front seven improve over the course of the off season than I am worried about the QB situation. I think that the best thing that could happen to us is improving our game in the trenches.

Obviously, Jayden stands to improve in several areas. But, I think that a similar level of play from him with better play at the LOS puts us on the fringe of the SECCG. I feel pretty comfortable with the skill positions.

will be the best qb on the field in almost every game we play, maybe all.

He won't be against Florida state
He won't be against Mississippi State
He won't be against Arkansas
He wasn't vs Weigman and A&M this year

That's just factually inaccurate to say Jayden is that dominant and advantage over the rest of our schedule

What about his 300 yard games? He's has just as many.

You're right. He broke 300 yards twice this year:

Vs 6-7 Florida
Vs Tennessee lol, pure garbage time stats

That's a barometer for success for you? It's not more telling that he couldn't get to 90 yards vs Auburn and A&M? It's not telling that he couldn't get to 100 until Florida state went prevent?

What about that performance vs A&M?

JD the starter and a Heisman candidate that beat bama. You will sleep better at night if you just accept that.

We would probably have to lose the first three games or Daniels lose a leg for BK to change QBs.
Hell he would seldom allow the backup to run any plays except handoffs, until the Georgia game.
That didn't work out, so that won't happen again. Got to keep "alignment".

Winning the West was not expected, but what team in the West was really a decent team? The only good win was against a team still ranked ahead and playing in a much better bowl game. The West was weak and JD is not a good QB. RB playing out of position and next season will be no different. You don't have to like it or agree with it, but you will have to live it. Happy New Year

My barometer for success wasn’t a 300 yard passing game but it was a 275 yards total O produced, three touchdowns and a massively important two point conversion pass which enabled us to be beat Bama for only the second time in the past 11 years and for all practical purposes win the west.

You mean the game our D allowed A&M to convert on third or fourth down almost 70% of the time and gave up 275 yards rushing?

No one is saying that JD doesn’t have to improve or that he didn’t have any sub par games this season, but the idea that the team most valuable player is some kind of major weakness in our armor for the upcoming season is simply ridiculous.

The barometer of success is WINS.

Not how many yards the qb throws for.
