RIP. He wouldn’t last in today’s game.

He had to wait for Messi to win the World Cup so he could pass the GOAT torch.

His watch had ended.

There was a video that highlighted a modern player and their signature move, and then stitched with Pele doing those moves 40 years ago. Pretty neat.

The likes of Pele and Maradona would thrive in today's game because they wouldn't be assaulted every time they had the ball at their feet, like they did in their day.

Think of what he’d do on European manicured pitches with some of the best teammates in the world every week

Should we start a second thread for anyone else who wants to kick Pele's fresh corpse?

Greatest ever, and I think Messi would agree with that too.

The ignorance of this statement. Believe or not, some past athletes could and would excel today’s game because they’re were so great.

I think he was the only international soccer player I knew the name of growing up.

Which is to argue he was the biggest superstar of the sport in the late 70s/early 80s. He was big enough that even your mother or grandparents knew his name.
