Put two and two together here and you can figure out why he left.

Daniels and Boutte just couldn’t get on the same page and his draft stock plummeted this year (previously was a consensus top 10 draft pick). Too much risk to come back for another year with Daniels and the erratic pass game.

Before responses about how Nabors still did fine with Daniels, Nabors had 700 yards in 50 quarters with Daniels, 150 yards in 3 quarters with Nuss.

I just don’t see either Boutte or Nabors putting up Chase or Jefferson like numbers with Daniels, which type of production leads to an easy first round draft pick, and I’m sure these guys can figure out the same.

Overall, I’m bummed. I thought with this WR group and Nuss (with the right coaching and progression) might be able to get able to to back to an elite pass offense that led us to a title recently. At least that ceiling was there.

Now, with Daniels, our offensive ceiling is capped a bit and I feel we’ll be good but not good enough for a title. Which is a type of team that Kelly has often had at Notre Dame.

Rant ended.

if your personal bar for WRs is to be as good as chase or jefferson, I'm afraid you're going to go most of your fanhood disappointed.

Kelly has his boy in Daniels. One thing about Kelly is his qb’s have been medicore as hell

So, what you're saying is that Boutte thought his NFL caliber QB would declare for the draft. Instead, the QB that Boutte thinks would have a draft stock high enough to lure him into the NFL announces his return and because of the NFL caliber QB returning he has decided to leave himself?

I know this stuff makes sense in your brains I just don't understand how these brains function on a daily basis.

Is it because Daniels is "feet happy" and maybe a little more comfortable running than throwing?

Or...

Boutte wasn't gonna be academically eligible and he decided he'd rather use his time to get ready for the draft than taking summer classes.

Or...

Boutte failed a drug test and BK asked him to go pro.

Or...

Boutte got a much better draft grade than expected and decided to bolt.

I can speculate too.

What a moronic post.

So just ignore that earlier the same day Boutte decided to reverse his decision on entering the draft, LSU announced he wouldn’t be available for the bowl but would be enrolled for the spring semester.

It’s amazing that some of you can latch on to whatever imaginary scenario you create in your head to the point that you just ignore reality.

You're right. I'm sure players don't talk and Boutte was completely blindsided by Daniels returning.

Definitely not what happened.

Boutte should have never announced a return. Stupid decision. Sounds like a school issue here

Disappointing passing game along with a RB group that is below average for LSU standards makes winning 9 games even more astonishing.
Let's hope the offense can actually produce this week and Purdue (with Brees) does not punk us in the bowl game.

Good post. Well said and it’s pretty obvious to anyone that watches the games. The passing offense capped with Daniels and if you are a receiver you either need to love blocking or look elsewhere for catches and yards.

I'm just going to start copying and pasting this post on every one of these stupid threads:

quote:

It just fundamentally makes zero sense. Daniels coming back should have been a surprise to nobody. The people in the media that actually have their finger on the pulse of the program had been saying long before the official announcement that Daniels was leaning towards returning. Shea Dixon and Billy Embody fielded the question multiple times a day for weeks and always said the same thing, that Daniels hadn’t made a final decision but people inside the program felt he was leaning towards coming back.

So I’m to believe that all those guys, who aren’t in the building, knew he was leaning towards returning, but Kayshon was oblivious to that? Just improbable.

It’s fun to have a conspiracy theory, but if Kayshon had really been concerned with Daniels returning he would have never made that initial announcement, he would have waited. The far more likely truth is Kayshon got in some trouble for violating team rules and decided he didn’t want to play school anymore.

Boutte had 500 yards and 9 TDs in 6 games as a sophomore so that ceiling is there.

Great receivers get drafted high regardless of the QB. Look at all of the LSU receivers that went in the first round during the Miles era of mediocre QB play. Megatron had Reggie Ball as his QB. Did that stop him from being drafted high? No of course not. If you're great the NFL will recognize it.

Go look at Boutte’s stats with and without Daniels.

Then let me know what you see.

The mental capacity of some of our fans. "Good post". No it is a shite post. "Obvious to anyone that watches" So the fan that watches knows more than the players on the field. You really don't think the players know what other players on the team are doing. Like Boutte goes to Daniels and say hey man are you coming back. Then Daniels giggles like school girl and tells him he will have to wait and see.
