Been going down this rabbit hole for a while.

All I have are a pair of starter Thursday wedge boots.

Plenty of brands out there with Red Wing, Grant Stone, the brands in Pacific Northwest, Alden, Truman, etc.

Would like some stories on what boot(s) y'all have and the positives/negatives.

Thanks.

I don't think we're allowed to have more than one footwear thread on the first page of the OT at one time.

ETA: This rule was made in response to JonHam.

I got this one approved by Rummy, but the concern is very well noted.

Same, been going through hella youtube videos lately.

Think I am going the way of Red Wings because I like their work boot fit. Bought some Danners a while back and meh at best. The Thursdays look nice, but I don't think I have the style for them.

Some of those one off for a few grand are tempting, but I don't think I will appreciate. My tradeoff between all of that will be Nick's, but don't think I am pulling the trigger for a while on them.

ETA: one of my issues is I need removeable insoles. Some of the boots have permanant insoles and that won't work for me. Removing them is a terrible process. Some (maybe all) Tecovas are this way.

You may hear a variety of opinions, but the OT tried and true favorite is timeless

I have a pair of Rhodes Chelsea boots I wear a lot. They're simple and solid so far. I've got some Rancourts on order. There are a few Alden chukkas I'll probably eventually get into but I don't really need them.

I have a pair of Thursday's, great boots. I also have a pair of Iron Rangers, love the things. I ordered a pair of Lems Waterproof Boulder Boots yesterday, wanted something lightweight and comfortable to just throw on.

I have never been a boot person except for technical boots for specific functions but my best friend is an American work book connoisseur. This man prays to Saint Goodyear of Welt and if you drug a piece of Horween 20 miles through the woods he could track it like a bloodhound. It is unlikely he doesn't have at least one pair from every US major or boutique manufacturer and when I have heard other people nail him down to a single boot from a single company it is always the American (or is it Americana) from Nicks. He waxes poetic about them in a way that makes me want to buy a pair even if I never wear them just to say I own a pair.

Like owning a piece of art. Leatherwork in general calls to me that way. Me and the S.O. unknowingly bought each other pieces from the same leathermaker for that reason.

Tractor supply store brand, used to be George C. Schmidt, now it's called something else. I've had them for four years, wearing them nearly every day. Just now starting to wear out. I can get a few more months out of them and then I'll try to get the exact same model if they still make them.

Been eyeing these Grant Stone Diesel boots. They are an olive/gray color.

Yeah, the Nicks are just damn good looking.
