50% of their schedule is cancelled tomorrow too. Obviously a network-wide hard reset of their planes/crews.

SWA I believe doesn't rebook stranded passengers on other airlines like other airlines do. This doesn't help matters.

I've taken dumps longer than it takes to drive from Houston to Dallas.

Sounds like all of the Denver ramp agents had a sickout or something.

What does the FAA have to do with SWA canceling 70% of their flights?

The FAA regulates the number of hrs a pilot can fly in a day, month and a quarter. When airlines are short staffed, overtime early in the month affects the end of the month and the end of the quarter. They prob have pilots willing to come in, they just don’t have available FAA regulated duty time.

It isn’t the weather. My SiL is trying to get between Houston and Dallas which are two of the biggest SWA hubs in the country and there isn’t a flight for the next two days. “Staffing” is too broad of a catch all…this sounds like a walk out or some broader HR breakdown.

Might as well rent a car....it's only a 5 hour drive

You seem like you are trying really hard to take up for SWA for some reason

They can stop in at the original Buckees outside of Madisonville.

This is incorrect.

The original location is in Lake Jackson. Several smaller locations in that area around Freeport.

Some inside info from a couple of my friends there… shite flows downhill. Looks like it may have started in Denver. Specifically, the lack of ramp crews required to receive the airplanes. Of note, temps have been in the negatives up that way.

I’m an airline pilot bro.

This has nothing to do with flight/duty regulations. That’s a rolling timetable, not monthly or yearly.

Idk, I can see both sides of this. On one side, you have to have ramp agents to run an operation. It’s negative degrees outside. Of course people are calling in to avoid that bullshite.

On the other side, I completely understand a ramp agent not wanting to stand outside for 8 hours when it’s -9 outside.

Denver is a complete disaster ATM. There are literally NO rental cars available.
