Played from 1977-1981 for Dale’s first final 4 team.

Played his entire pro career in Israel after LSU. He was Jewish, after his grandmother (who raised him) converted to Judaism, when she married his grandfather.

Willie Sims
"Super Sub"
He was really good and possibly should have started, but Dale kept him in a sub role. It seemed to work out for Willie and the team.

RIP Willie Sims. Our time as students at LSU overlapped and I was at that Final Four in Philly and was at those tournament games in the Superdome with the record breaking crowds. Great times. He was one of the best.

I had a class or two with Willie at LSU, and believe it or not he used to play in some of the pick games in what was then the new Fieldhouse. He was a good man.

Wow awful news, he still one of my all time favorites. Willie Sims "Supersub" best 6 man off bench in college his Jr. Year. I remember going to a game with my father and all we could get were SRO tickets it was the best way to watch the game. When Dale put him in game the crowd went nuts, loved that guy "RIP Willie"

RIP Black Jet. Loved watching players like Willie, Dewayne Scales, Rudy Macklin, Greg Cook, Howard Carter, & Ethan Martin back in the heyday of the Deaf Dome.

Him and Tari Easton are probably two of the best players that came off of the bench

Willie Sims was introduced before the game as part of the starters--all 6 of them. Willie was sent in at the 5 minute mark and as previously stated, the crowd went crazy cheering.
The 1981 team was an exciting team to watch with fantastic nicknames.
Sad news.
