Every school in the USA could have installed safety measures to protect our children for 70B!

To the OP: for perspective, the 2022 military budget was $1.64T and we sent about 4% of that to help a smaller country decimate one of our top enemies. It might be decent deal that is good for America.
Link?
Your idea of budgeting is a mess.
The numbers I found has our military budget for 2022 at $778M. That doesn’t include Ukrainian aid.
So, we are sending well over an amount equal to 10% of our annual military budget to Ukraine in 9 months. And it’s straight debt spending.
For comparison, we spent roughly the same amount per year on the war in Afghanistan over 20 years. So claiming it’s a dollar bargain just isn’t supported.

yall have to understand not everyone in the OT thread is a warmonger
and most are conservatives
its really simple and boils down to this
1) Do you beleive in Nato
2)do you beleive russia is a threat to national security in that they are a threat to NAto
3) if you answer the 1st two things as yes, then do you beleive stopping russia now is cheaper both in terms of dollars and american lives to stop them now or when they kept going?
personally my answer to #1 would be no, but i also understand the overall economic issues if we pulled out and russia kept going.
i personally dont liek any money going oversees or hell even sharing military tech but i know that im in the minority there, especially on leaving the UN and Nato and i understand the economic consequences short term but am willing to live with that. but if we are goign to stay in nato, the other countries should abide by the terms, specifically financially and readiness.
wiht all that being said, im very much in the minority so i want my tax dollars to atleast be used for something worthwhile.
so far we have spent less than 6% of the annual total defense budget in ukraine....and for that we have destroyed an estimated 50% of the conventional russian forces who happens to be historically our biggest geopolitical foe and current #2 behind china.
we also have caused the rest of nato to agree to spend the required amount as trump was trying to do
we also will seize and get paid back much of the money we sent so total investment is lower than 6%
also have forced china back the frick off
now with all that being said, there are 100% some issues. I dont think much of what is goign to ukraine will be stolen by US politicians but certainly will go to fund corruption and graft in eastern europe. but when we transfer the money from the seized accounts, i can 100% say i beleive much of it will be stolen by US politicians and yes that concerns me.
but in the end its pretty simple for me, if we are goign to continue to be the worlds police in certain ways, then you cant let russia just take what it wants.
if the US allowed texas to become an independent country and russia didnt like what it was saying and decided to invade, should we just let them? what if it was china invading canada...should we just let them?
i do agree this was a european problem and should have had european solutions, problem is they are weak. europe is a weak society. at some point you have to protect a countries right to exist.

That 10% for The Big Guy must be adding up to a cash vault that would make Scrooge McDuck jealous.
Posted on 12/21/22 at 11:47 am to LuckyTiger
Eastern Europe is giving their old upgraded Soviet arms to Ukraine and ordering American equipment as fast as they can. American arms have become very popular around the world, and the business income will dwarf that $70B (albeit, at tax payer's expense).

its in the seized accounts.
they arent goign to steal the stuff going now, way too many eyes on it. they will wait for years when eyes are on other things.
I am saying this as someone who supports sending the systems to ukraine as i think the ROI on decemating russia is worth it.
but watch, you will never hear about the seized accounts and property after this is all over and the admin leaves. 100% this will happen.

DOD total budgetary resources available
Further reading shows only $1.21T of that $1.64T in total "budgetary resources" is actually "Planned Spending". (Not gonna read the whole budget, but not sure where you could get $778M from it.)

Nope. Don’t really care about Russia while our country actively supports degeneracy and crime.

$70 billion dollars would pave around 56,000 miles of four lane highways in the United States.
Our government is corrupt.
That 70 billion should not be given to any foreign country for any reason while our infrastructure crumbles.

The aid is essential for our own protection. Putin will eventually take over Europe and then invade the U.S. He plans on sending his navy up the Gulf and hitting the beaches at New Iberia because he knows we shut down the Navy Air Base there in 1964 leaving it totally defenseless.
It’s both funny and sad how the domino theory used to justify the Vietnam War by our politicians back in the day is still easily utilized and swallowed, hook line and sinker.

this is nothing like vietnam which was simply about containing communism and cost tens of thousands of US servicemen
this cost zero
russia and specifically putin has said he thought the breakup of the russia empire was the worst thing that the soviets ever did
he 100% wanted to reunite the balkens & caucasus areas under russian rule and official russian tv has already said they should just continue on into poland.
but yea im sure he planned to just stop
