I think most tenants were already being forced to move since the complex failed the Section 8 federal inspection. This place was deemed too dangerous and too run down for Section 8 housing.
A squatter probably caught the place on fire.

Looks like I hit a nerve. I think some self reflection would be more appropriate than that pathetic response.

Hopefully when rebuilt it’s improved with better fire protection. Or not rebuilt at all.
But seriously…as much as this sucks, it’s likely going to result in an improvement to the area.

Riverside already lined up to tow burnt cars and charge $200/day in storage fees and penalties for parking in an active fire zone.
I know you are joking but I just wanted to say frick RIVERSIDE.

Not shocking at all.
Kind of surprised it made it this long without going up. The construction quality was horrific and the the maintenance has always been questionable.

Fighting a fire in a building like that has to be scary.
Hats off to BRFD. This state gets a lot of things wrong - but BRFD is a great department.

All the way down Alvin Dark really needs to be burned down also. Yeah I'm sure there are some decent people living in there but it really is a bad look for LSU having such a terrible area where a popular student hangout location is

It’s just going to be rebuilt for section 8 apartments. Nobody is going to invest student apartments there with the crime happening.

I think somebody forgot he had two tabs open with different user names and forgot which one he was replying on.

Unless you are in the hood every day I don’t want to hear shite. Some condemned apartments burned. Probably for the insurance money.
You expect us to all be wringing our purses, yet I bet you don’t care when LSU kids get robbed and assaulted or worse. You don’t care that people live in squalor, you just want to sit on your high horse. Typical.
Where were you when the types That ruined tigerland were burning down small businesses, looting and killing innocent people?
“They have insurance” right?
Mostly peaceful fires?
It’s pathetic what LSU has allowed to happen just outside its gates and a tragedy what section 8 does to communities.

Nobody is amused that people lost their possessions. Nobody has said anything of the sort.
The place was an absolute shite hole and that's from someone that lived there '96 to 2000.
Sec 8 housing is a terribly failed system and hopefully this will go some way to ridding the area of the sec 8 blight.
