If the idea is to have Walker be the backup to Daniels next year and then start in 2024...

Why not just start Walker now and get on with the future? Especially if we all know it's only a matter of time before he starts. Let's just get the frick on with it. This order of operations shite is so dumb.

Because Jayden just won an SEC West title and is pretty dang good with an even better team surrounding him next year

Doesn't matter who surrounds him if he isn't throwing the ball and we're all yelling "Just get rid of it!" at the TV for 3 hours straight every Saturday.

I feel Howard made a big impression with Kelly this year, and will see more playing time than Nuss did this season.

Well I guess it matters enough to beat Alabama and go 6-2 in the SEC

OP if it has to be explained to you, you wouldn’t understand it anyway.

The real issue is….he may not be ready. Besides because of the injury potential at that position, we need every player we can keep. You are GOING to need the backup in a 12 game season….maybe two deep will get it done. The backups for some of our competitors are sub par. Not true with A&M for instance. Their 3rd stringer came in and lit it up in more than one game. It’s important to have quality depth there.

Make JD earn the starting job, but just hand it to Walker. How stupid are you?

Are you suggesting LSU should make a change at QB just so you don't have to yell at the TV screen?

LSU was picked to finish 5th...in the SEC West last season. With Daniels at QB they won the division (and beat Alabama at home for the first time in over a decade) in what may have been the most limited roster LSU has had in 20 years. Howard may be the greatest QB to ever play for LSU. We don't know. But what is more likely:

1. With a full year in the offense under his belt and a (likely) improved roster in year two, a 5th year QB performs better next season, potentially leading LSU to greater success than this season. Particularly when the 3 SEC teams ranked ahead of LSU (Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee) will all be replacing veteran QBs.

or

2. A RS Freshman who has never played a meaningful snap of college football, let alone started a game, comes in and immediately leads the team to equal success next year...and perhaps better.

Neither answer is 100% certain. But in a season where essentially everyone of your biggest challengers (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee) will likely be inexperienced at QB, you want to start a guy with even LESS experience than what those teams throw out there? I'd hedge my bet on Daniels right now.

Maybe we should figure out which current 8th grader is going to be the future starting QB and just have him start next season.

Yeah let’s boot the guy with 50+ games of experience for a QB who hasn’t thrown a pass
