That’s basically what I meant to ask, thanks. Short was my main question.

It’s going to be Thompson. A lot of people are hoping it won’t be but it’ll be him and he’s going to be good.

Thompson turned a corner towards the end of the season. He still made errors but not at the clip he was early in the season and was one of the most clutch hitters on the team.
I would prefer someone else take over the shortstop spot and allow Thompson to play second. I think he would be really good there and I definitely want his bat in the lineup. I love his range and his main issue was throws from short. Maybe making the throws easier makes him better.

I doubt they take his bat out the lineup even when he is pitching

It is highly unlikely he hits when he is pitching. He never did in the fall anyway and that is best in my opinion. Hitting and pitching in the same game at the college level is a lot to have to deal with.
Even when he isn't pitching, I'm not ready to say he will be the everyday DH. Too many options at this point to make that assumption.

Skenes was tearing the cover off the ball to start the fall but cooled off considerably. Jones was perhaps the top option by the end of fall. There will be a lot of competition in the spring at DH. Travinski, Jobert, Beloso, Frey are other considerations.
I believe Thompson and Milazzo will start the year but they are not written down in ink.

It’s just nice to know we are loaded. Plenty of options for any situation.
The main focus at this point needs to be on uniform choices

I think by SEC you could see something like this
1B Tre Morgan
CF Dylan crews
3B Tommy tanks
RF Josh Pearson
DH Jared Jones
SS Jordan Thompson
LF Paxton Kling
2B Jack Merrfield
C Brady Neal
There will be some interchanging at some spots all year. Milazzo, Dugas, Nippolt, Gavin Guidry, Joubert, Ruddell will all fight fit starts.

Biggest ? I have with Skenes at the plate is if he can consistently hit the top level pitching. We know he has the power and that isn't anything to worry about. If he can hit .280 with the power he showed that will be just fine. In the fall he was definitely a boom or bust kind of hitter it seems. 8 hits total and 5 were homers.
I agree with the Thompson and Milazzo comment. They will likely be the starters opening day and the jobs will be theirs to lose. Neal and Travinski will get some time with Milazzo though behind the plate. I think that is a good thing to be able to keep them all fresh throughout the year and once you get to peak SEC play, you can take advantage of who is playing best.
