Is Scott Woodward the first great athletic director LSU has ever had?

I can not be the only one who took a break from the university and is back on board.

Living far away is a challenge itself to stay invested, but we fans have experienced some completely bizarre shite. We have such a nice trophy case across sports despite terrible decision making over our entire history. Skip Bertman wouldn't even give Pat Henry a locker room after winning 27 national titles. Skip fired john brady two years removed from a final 4 . I have some sauce around the program that confirmed brady quit caring after the final 4, but that doesn't justify hiring Trent johnsonnor neglecting tony bennett and his wife wanting the job when he was at Wazzu.

Let me be clear, baws. I am not condemning Skip and am forever grateful for his positive impact on LSU. That does not mean I should convince myself Skip was a good athletic director.

I admit and regret defending Joe Alleva more than I should have here over the years, but to be fair alleva was actually a fecking fascinating story. an absolute roller coaster, mates. in 2015 the jimbo fisher coup was brilliant, but he failed because bobby jindal is dreadful. Joe started promising and faded in incredible fashion by betraying pear, hiring o, and letting the sell's somehow run wild in women's tennis.

Skip has always been modest about the les miles move, but at least alleva couldn't stand miles, who we all knew was a clown car. Alleva had the right ideas but couldn't execute anything mixed with baffling management.

Woodward is the guy your LSU elders and yourself dreamed of, brethers. A new and real golden era for LSU is coming, and I'm stoked to see Woodgoat continue to revap LSU. it's amazing how successful LSU has been with complete chaos.

tPear is the perfect example of LSU always being squandered. I literally still adore an awkwardly shaped prick because he's the best we've gotten to experience in my lifetime. but i realized it doesn't mean he's great. that's just our standard for now but I wouldn't even blink if Woodward poached scott drew, or perhaps mcmahon pans out.

But it's epic Woodward is leading LSU. i even assumed Tate was going to be solid because Scott was in the decision. tGolden Airboat is leaving the dock.

And I absolutely hate politics invading the board but I wanted to say Woodgoat would make a great governor.

Just worried our home and want it to finally move in a positive direction, and it hit me that he'd crush it.

I can't honestly think of the last individual in the state running for any government position that wasn't a frothing loser. My rant was literally inspired coming home for the holidays and reflecting on alleva, f cuck, every public office and appreciating WOODY

Skip hired a national championship winning coach in both Baseball and football.

Has any other AD ever done that in our history?

I’m 30, so the only AD I remember as an adult and actually following lsu sports and not just watching as a kid.. is joe alleva.

Safe to say say he’s better than that clown, but a monkey could’ve been better than him

Corbett was very good in his time, despite perhaps being a peeping Tom.
Woodward has the makings of greatness.

Manieri after his buddy Smoke came so Skip kept camp money, and Miles (perverted creep) when Jimbo was in the room.

Skip was GOAT as coach but atrocious as an AD; we wouldn't trade ANY of our current coaches hired by Woody for ANY who he hired.

Skip also didn't have the balls to rehire Saban when he wanted back in.

Skip was a good AD but I cannot get over the fact of how cheap he was. Saban wanted more money, nope. Saban wanted to come back, “we already have a coach” then the one that really bothers me. “Hey, let’s build a new Alex box and just use the old ones parts”.

He took Stanford and Nevada to the Sweet 16. Wasn't exactly a terrible resume.

Yeah, I'm not buying the whole "Skip was shite" statement. I think it's easy to look back and critique the moves he made, but such is life. Comparison is the thief of Joy. We needed all of those moments back then, to get to where we are today.

My top three would be:

1. Jim Corbett
2. Carl Maddox
3. Scott Woodward (with a strong chance to rise)

Broadhead was very, very good. Bottom Line Bob. He was the best till Woody arrived. As for now, Woody has brought in some of the best, moved a number out, that needed to be moved.

We might have had one in the late 18 early 1900s maybe in the 30s or 40s...I dunno.

Skip was a good AD. While not perfect he hired a national championship coach in multiple sports. LSU football would be nowhere near where we are today without Nick Saban, and Skip hired him.
