Yes. Old Lady Wells used to tell me stories of the steam ships coming down Bayou Robert loaded with cotton.

I like that "Spirit Wheel" in the foreground, but be careful, that Vodou crap can get wild and be dangerous.

How far away from Bayou Robert is Bayou Rapides?

Not sure how I would answer that. If you look at overheads, Robert basically becomes Boeuf. The meanders are huge. I think the closest Robert gets to Rapides would be a long Heyman ln. Robert just sorta pops up out of the ground near Heyman at Dorchester. Rapides is up the road where Heyman hits Bayou Rapides rd.

I was asking because I did find a historical reference to a steamboat on Bayou Rapides.
