re: Louisiana has Road Map to be More EV Friendly

These charge stations will have backup diesel power. You will have to in Louisiana. So it will cost more to power those to charge your car than it would be to just fill my car.

Can't wait to see all these actors and entertainers give up their gasoline rides

So we are loaning money to private companies on the basis that they build charge stations in Louisiana?
Or we are forking over cash for this to happen directly?

A new place for thugs to hang out in off hours to hit up single drivers messing with getting the plugs into their cars. Unlikely to be armed for self defense at those sites.
Every 50 miles within a half mile of the interstate....what could possibly go wrong?
eta what could go wrong after dark with a slow charge lasting half an hour or so?

Hey Dipshit, the price arbitrage will end rapidly and the cost to charge your inefficient EV will be more than the cost of gasoline - if this sorry arse experiment being willed by the govt continues, that is. The govt will go broke chasing this pipe dream, it already is.

Great, so the potholes will remain and the crime will continue to go up. But we will have charging stations that are paid for with our tax dollars.

Guess you failed thermodynamics but keep going…

The backbone of Louisiana’s initial network will be built out on its interstate systems and will require one fast-charge station with a minimum of four charges every 50 miles within one mile of the highway.
They should just partner with Cracker Barrel to put charging stations in their parking lots. Those locations are generally along major thoroughfares and they buy those areas with plenty of parking lot space (for people with campers and such).

It it weren’t for Latoya having French people visit the city, this would have never happened

Louisiana’s electric vehicle infrastructure was recently ranked as the worst in the nation in one analysis, but the state now has the money and a plan to begin to electrify its busiest highways.
This isn’t the responsibility of Louisiana to provide. So this was handles well, though I'm doubtful that was intentional. So the infrastructure is lacking, which they seem to be blaming on the state. Now the state will waste money on what will probably be shitty infrastructure. So, ICEs generate tax revenue. Meanwhile, EVs will have the state in the hole and still be just as damaging as gas vehicles to the roadways.

If I were wrong, hybrids would't exist and diesel-electric locomotives wouldn't exist.
The efficiency gains are primarily due to 2 reasons:
1. Heat engines get more efficient with increased size, and a generator which powers an EV charger will be much larger than a typical passenger vehicle engine.
2. Generators are designed to be efficient at the RPM at which they run. Engines in passenger vehicles turn at a wide range of RPMs, most of which aren't very efficient. Think of the electric motors as a CVT which is able to extract peak torque and peak efficiency from an ICE engine at the same time.
This is calculated and predicted by thermodynamics, and is proven in the real world via measurement.
And it is also why you were wrong above when you called another poster a "dipshit". Since electricity can be produced from gasoline and other fuels, it can never cost more to run an EV than it will to run an ICE vehicle. It may happen in the very short term in localized areas, but the cost of fuels is a cap on the cost of electricity, and EVs utilize the stored energy more efficiently.

Are they planning on putting a charging station on top of the I-10 bridge to help the EV folks out when the 1 lane in each direction cluster frick happens shortly?

Hey a-hole, go look at the situation in Europe, they are already running into this problem. People can’t afford to charge their EVs bc of cost of electricity (bc of the cost of Nat gas) and the gov is asking folks to stop charging at certain hours bc they also don’t have enough power. Also, you act like Nat gas lines are readily available to all areas for running your dumbass EV charger? It’s not like molecules can just appear anywhere you wish at some fixed cost.
California can’t even handle the EVs they have; how will the grid handle an additional 100 million EVs to begin with ? Lol

And if you didn't believe the absolute truth above, then you certainly won't believe what I'm about to say (but which is also absolute truth). If an EV owner and a buddy who drives an ICE vehicle need to go somewhere, they can go further on a gallon of gasoline by tow-charging and regen braking the EV with the ICE, then getting out and driving the EV with the charge they just put into it, than if they had just driven the ICE vehicle without towing anything.
