LSU defensive line commitments Luther Davis and Will Blackwell were both visited by new Alabama head coach Nick Saban on Wednesday as the former LSU coach is hoping to lure some Louisiana prospects to Tuscaloosa.
Mike Scarborough
Davis is adamant about his commitment to LSU
"It went pretty good and it was impressive to meet with Nick Saban but I really don't feel any different about him than any other coach," Davis said. "He was just telling us about his plan for Alabama and how he is the centerpiece of all the changes that is currently going on at LSU and he is the reason that LSU is the way it is now.
"He says he plans on doing the same thing at Alabama and turn things around."
Both LSU commitments were open with Saban about the finality of their pledge to LSU and Les Miles.
"He told me that he wanted me there but I told him I was solid to LSU and I don't think that is going to change and Will told him the same thing," Davis said. "He was kind of mad that we turned down the visit and turned down the scholarship.
"I have been around and I know where I want to be and that is at LSU."
Saban used his national championship coaching credentials from LSU to try to illustrate what he believes is best for the Louisiana four-star prospects.
"What he was saying is that the coaching staff he has at Alabama is pretty much the same coaching staff he had at LSU when he won a national championship," Davis said. "He said that there is no way that the coaching staff at LSU can compare to the coaching staff he has at Alabama right now.
In the meeting, Davis mentioned how he admired two defensive ends that were signed and coached by Saban.
"I told him awhile back that my favorite defensive ends were Marcus Spears and Marquise Hill and he was telling me that if I were to come there that he would make it to where I am better than them.
"I think I am a pretty good player but I respect those guys and it will take me a long time to get to the level that they were at."
Davis gave Saban some of the reasons why he is comfortable with his decision to sign with LSU.
"I told him that the main reasons I am going to LSU is the players there that I know and the academic center," Davis said. "I feel confident that if I go in and focus that I can graduate in three and a half to four years.
"He was talking about how he built the academic center, raised the money for it, which he did and that's all fine and good but he's not there anymore. He said that Alabama already has an academic center that is better than LSU's and for me to just come and take a look. I'll just take his word for it because I'm pretty solid."
When Saban left, Davis and Blackwell discussed their meeting with the new Crimson Tide coach.
"Really, the first thing we were saying is how about we are going to beat Bama in the next four-to-five years."
Davis remarked about how Saban didn't want to give anyone at LSU any credit for what has taken place since he left in December of 2004.
"I asked him about some of the guys that are at LSU right now and he said he was not familiar with them but he said whatever is going on there is not better than what he has going on at Alabama right now. He gave no credit to anyone."
Yesterday afternoon, the LSU coaches arrived at West Monroe.
"Coach (Josh) Henson and Coach (Earl) Lane were just telling us to ignore that and not even worry about it that it's people like that that keeps LSU hungry and wanting more," Davis said. "They are right because I was motivated off the stuff that Coach Saban was saying."
Davis and his family were familiar with Saban when he was at LSU as he recruited his older brother.
"He came across as arrogant when he was recruiting my brother and my family didn't like that then," Davis said. "I seriously would not be going to LSU if he were still there."

then......
quote:
DAVIS, THE FIRST major recruit Alabama head coach Nick Saban lured from Louisiana in a head-to-head battle with LSU after arriving at UA, spoke about his recruiting experience after Tuesday’s practice.
“It was just pretty emotional just for my family, just experiencing things every day, just having a whole city and state turn their back on you, treating you all kinds of ways, just calling you names just because you didn’t do what was best for them, but rather for yourself,” said the 6-3, 299-pounder from West Monroe, La. “There was times my father almost his job just because a lot of people, plus his boss, were predominantly LSU fans.
“It was just real stressful for us, but we got through it. We still go through it at times, but it’s getting better.”
Davis said he grew up wanting to play for Saban when the coach was at LSU, and chose to sign with Alabama because of Saban.
LSU fans, he said, didn’t take the news well.
“They had a lot to say about Coach Saban ... saying that he wasn’t going to be here very long, we’re all stupid and how disappointed everyone is because we followed him, but it wasn’t about that,” Davis said. “I just always wanted to play for him, even if he was at LSU. If the situation or the opportunity would have presented itself, I still would have gone there just for him.
“It’s supposed to be something you enjoy, the recruiting process. Not a lot of people ever get the chance to go through it, so for me to have that opportunity I looked at it as a blessing. Then it ended up being more just a scar for my family and myself just because everybody made it a miserable time for us.”
Davis also talked about LSU coach Les Miles’ reaction to the news that the player was going to go to Alabama.
“He was pretty upset,” Davis said. “It went from him trying to talk to me to him calling me a traitor and saying I’m only doing this because the devil has come back to college football and trying to create a big buzz.
“It wasn’t at all about that, and the fact that he got mad that I even took the visit (to Alabama) showed that I was just going to be another number on the team, or I wasn’t going to be as important as he made it out to be.
“Coach Miles, still, I think he’s a great coach. He’s done a great job down there. Capturing a national championship can’t be easy, especially playing in the SEC. I have no negative feelings toward him.”
Davis said the experience has motivated him for Saturday’s game in Baton Rouge, La. He expects a spirited reception from LSU fans.
“They’re all looking at it as Coach Saban coming back down and all they want to do is just embarrass him,” Davis said. “Even if the game doesn’t turn out as the outcome that they want, they’re still going to do everything in their power to make it miserable for us, but Coach Saban has done a good job as far as getting us prepared mentally for what may happen or what is going to occur.”

basically because he said he chose Bama over LSU but only after LSU pulled his scholarship.

Ask him about his dead relative in Tuscaloosa.

We know that he was lying because he was caught red handed.
During the recruiting process, he committed to LSU.
He took a secret visit to Tuscaloosa. During the visit to Tuscaloosa, a journalist from a recruiting website talked to him and asked if he was taking a visit to Alabama.
Davis responded that he was at his uncle's funeral and was not in Alabama.
Well, it didn't all add up and it was discovered that there was no funeral.
So, Luther lied and was caught red handed. He is a POS just like his lying coach.
I know you are in denial cause you were just like us....but, you will soon discover that both are.
Those are the facts. You can accept them or not. It doesn't matter. They are what they are.

Saban is the most arrogant,self-absorbed coach in the NCAA.

Miles yanked his scholly and then Saban magically "lured" him to Alabama.

The way Alabama is trying to spin the Luther Davis situation into a major recruiting victory is just an indication of how good of a job Les Miles has done recruiting against Saban. Hopefully, Les can get Randle to sign with LSU. If so, Les will have successfully beaten Saban head up for all important in state recruits. That is the reality of the situation. The players Alabama have picked up from the state of Louisiana were not must have recruits in the state of Louisiana, and all these attempts Alabama is making in rewriting recruiting history is a good indication they are aware of their failures.

LSU has yet to lose a recruit to Saban, and its very flattering Alabama continues to measure its own success looking up to LSU. If LSU takes care of business this Saturday, all of Alabama's recent success will be meaningless and they will continue holding their current position of looking up to and admiring the accomplishments of LSU.

That comment right there is proof enough of him lying. Although I've never met Les MIles or been through any type of recruiting process or had any personal dealings with him, I have a very hard time believing that he would have anything but the very best desires for any player he recruits, whether the kid comes to LSU or not.

Louisiana recruits should look at how Alabama is using Luther Davis and the affect it is having on his friends and family in Louisiana. Its perfectly fine if a recruit decides to go out of state to play, but it is pretty sad when that university is making recruits say negative things about the state and people in it. If recruits sign with Alabama, they will probably be asked to do the same type things.

That comment is "proof" because you have a "hard time believing". Do you know the definition of "proof"?
Everybody just needs to calm the frick down. Neither Saban nor Miles are "the devil". This really isn't a big story. Teams recruit the same players all the time. The MEDIA is responsible for constantly blowing everything out of proportion trying to create controversy. That's how they make a living. They write stories to stir the pot and then semi-retarded readers fall for them hook, line, and sinker. Saban isn't worried about them, and since Miles himself admitted that he can't read, you know he isn't buying into them.
Let's just play the game. Enough with the man-soap operas.
