Doesn’t have to be a better rendition.

Most people knows Johnny Cash’s cover of “Hurt”. Soft Cell’s version of “Tainted Love”. Aretha Franklin’s version of Otis Redding’s “Respect”. Etc.

I’ve got Motörhead’s cover of David Bowie’s “Heros”

Simply Red covering "You Make Me Feel Brand New" by the Stylistics.

I love 70's Soul and the Stylistics are one of my all time faves.

Johnny C's "Rusty Cage" is awesome. Also, Soundgarden's cover of Devo's "Girl you want".

Adam Levine does a great cover of Purple Rain live at a birthday thing for Howard Stern some years ago. YouTube

The band Our Last Night does a ton of coves on YouTube with a rock twist. Same as No Resolve.

This. I like Dolly Parton, I have always liked the way she sings. And I like her original version of the song (which I think its common knowledge now, but she wrote I will always love you and Jolene in the same night).. But no one can touch Whitney. Even Dolly said that was Whitney's song because she took it to a whole different level.

What about Guns and Roses remake of Knocking on Heaven's Door?
