Knowing we need a win, while the Persians need a draw, do you think Gregg comes out with attacking lineup featuring Gio and/or Aaronson?
Shock the world and come out with back three?
You think we sit back, go for goal in second half or press early and get up 1 quickly?
Who the hell is going to start at striker?
Where will the goal(s) come from?
Can we break down a side of they sit back in the low block?

Personally, I think we come out in same formation, and Gregg starts Jesus up front, as it’s his turn in the musical chair at 9 game we seem set on doing.

I believe we come out on top 2-0, with the second goal coming midway through second after absorbing pressure for a frustratingly long period.

Iran knows if they score a goal then this is way way harder on the us. I don’t think they’re going to play as “park the bus” as we all think until the 65th

Also - they’ve scored 4 goals in 2 games

We’ve scored 1

Folks over analyzing Greggg’s tactics have completely forgotten what he’s known for: lack of offensive attack in the final 3rd and lack of producing goals.

It’s a distraction from his true history, (not to mention playing Morris over Gio). Gregggg’s tactics are where 9’s go to die.

We have come out strong both games. I think you have to do it again and be able to react to what Iran is showing you.

I think Iran will look to be hard to break down early, but with a real eye on counter attacks. They know we will be looking to score. Some of our best opportunities may come when we stop a counter attack and transition it quickly back to our attack.

I don't have a whole lot of faith we will score more than 1. So keeping them off the board is pivotal.

I think as long as Gregg understands his job is on the line he’ll adjust the lineup accordingly

I think we win 1-0 or 2-0, but I don't think the first goal comes until the second half.

Iran is going to bunker and we know that hardly ever works for 90 minutes.

Also - the team we tied 0-0 (and should have beaten) beat this team 6-0.

For every goal we score we should sink 5 of their patrol boats who constantly harrass us in the Persian Gulf

We’ve given up 1 goal in 2 games and that was on a penalty kick.

England started with a 13 colony lead and yet didn’t score on us. We have a world class goalie which helps. We just need more service from our wings on fast breaks.

Any concern with Ream/Zimmerman and how dangerous Iran looked on the counter yesterday?

They looked competent on the counter, but I don't think they were anything special on the counter.

Also, Adams and Jedi have made us really hard to counter against.

Iran is still playing their back-up goalie, right?

Iran likely only need a draw, but a draw and 1-0 Wales win puts Wales and England through doesn’t it?

Welp, US soccer displayed the iranian flag without the islamic republic symbol today, inflaming some tensions and bringing the political further into the game.

quote:

The U.S. Soccer Federation briefly displayed Iran's national flag on social media without the emblem of the Islamic Republic, saying the move supports protesters in Iran ahead of the two nations' World Cup match on Tuesday.

quote:

Iran's government reacted by accusing America of removing the name of God from their national flag.

Careful, we don't want to mistep by missing the name of God....

Lets just give them extra incentive...

This stuff worked out really well in 98 when we got our asses handed to us. Just play the game.

What stuff?

We did a flower ceremony with them and took a joint team picture before the match.
