Some Saints tidbits from a former player

Spoke with a former Saints player the other day and he gave me some insight to the Saints organization. Some of this we already know and what’s been speculated on here.
I believe Mcvey makes around $18 so this is reasonable. Payton to an AFC team is the best scenario and Skylene can enjoy the glamor of LA. It also allows Payton more commercial opportunities which we are seeing more and more coaches take advantage of.
Honestly this is the most disheartening news because I want Allen gone. He is who he is. Firing coordinators is just delaying the inevitable.
This adds more fuel to the fire that Loomis needs to go. Every year we see teams that are supposed playoff locks stumble. The Rams won a Super Bowl and now would be picking top 6 (if they didn’t trade to Lions). Such an awful gamble.
I’ve said on here that I’ve made my peace that Dalton comes back for another year. It sucks but it’s just the mess we are in. Or maybe let it ride with Taysom one final time?
Would be great to see what we have in Penning. If he’s half as good a rookie as Olave then we have two young pieces to build on.
Anyway, that’s it.

Payton definitely wants the chargers. said they will pay him 20 mil and he can make additional 10 in endorsements.

Doesn’t think Gayle will fire allen even if they went 3-14 but said she will make him fire ppl on his staff like OC

Future QB obviously not on roster but thinks we may have to stick with one next year because of lack of options and cap

Penning should be back this week but may not start. Should be getting guys like Roby back in a week or two. Unsure about Lattimore. Ribs are fine but the kidney is still bruised

This makes the most sense for everyone involved as time goes on.
Payton gets his QB to go along with Ekeler & Keenan Allen. Chargers give up at best a mid 1st round pick for an offensive minded coach with extensive playoff experience

Was this the same one that said Honeybadger wasn’t signing here.

well its the only place that gives him everything he wants and a team ready to go with a good QB

well that sucks but at least pete will finally be gone. bad thing is DA had pete as his 1st and only choice so who knows who he has as a backup choice.
we all know DA is not a HC so can he, or would he, hire an OC /head coach to do his job for him? thats the million dollar question mark

doesnt matter if its a top 5 or mid round pick, you cant give up your first rounder when its undeniable the team needs a full overhaul on both sides of the ball

dalton is doing great, its not his fault if the rest of the team sucks, the game plans suck, the play calling sucks, and the coaching sucks.
drew brees, in his hay day, couldnt do any better of a job than dalton is doing, and with less injuries and just half decent coaching, we could have been in the playoffs this year, all because of dalton

the injuries are killing us, as soon as we can get some starters back on the field, we will be putting up 30+ points a game again

I would like a hell of alot more for Payton other than a mid first rd pick

I don't trust dennis allen to make any hires much less an oc.

He won’t get a good OC knowing he’s pretty much a lame duck getting fired when the season is over.

thats what i am expecting as well, maybe another washed up old OC who has to be begged to come here and has no desire to really succeed any more, so we will just get another pete carmichael clone

Some posters here get butthurt when others talk to former players but it’s really not that hard in New Orleans

Penning is going to be a good one.
CSP wanting the bolts is the worst kept secret around.
Not firing DA can be a good owner move. Unless their is a stud coach for hire it gives another year to clear cap.
As to this year...we thought we had a shot. Didn't work out so let's see the reset. If any lol.

As much as it sucks, it is the typical order of operations. Just a bad year, it's a rebuild. Then replace coordinators. Then get rid of HC. Sometimes the 3rd step is delayed a year if a new QB is taken, give the HC a year with his guy.

Been discussed in many other threads. Will be difficult to draw in a top guy when you're in cap hell, need a QB, and have no first round pick (although may get one once SP is traded). A good HC won't let 1 of those things deter them, but to have all 3 as an issue gets you a desperate retread at best.

i was ragging him not you
but in general, a lot of people like to make up BS about having inside sources so its not something that can just be taken on faith as facts

A gamble is what the draft is but also this is hindsight now. Most people including national media thought the saints were nfc contenders. Everyone was excited and we desperately needed wr help. He’s a legit stud who may be oroty. Don’t think you can really fault “didn’t think it would be near a top pick”
