Fall Baseball Accumulative Stats

With the Fall baseball season concluding with terrible weather for the P&G WS, it leaves much excitement heading into the spring.
Hitting stats are sorted by OBP and Pitching stats are sorted by WHIP. Although the true stat of WHIP does not include HBP, I do include it as I feel it helps me see how the pitcher is doing a little bit better.
Couldn't compile these stats together without Scuba and the dedication he has by going to these fall scrimmages and keeping a scorebook on them. Much appreciated sir.

man i have been on the thompson will start due to the bat over guidry but thompson had terrible fall at the plate.
never thought it would be thompson needs to start because guidry aint ready in the field. 6 errors looks bad though. hopefully he has beeter spring and isnt pressing.

Merrifield with the 15 XBHs and 11% K and White with 7 homeruns and 15% K is what I like to see! I guess I'll start looking for a place to stay in Omaha!
Thanks Baytiger

Milazzo with a ton of productive ABs. K rate low. RBI rate high. More patience and better ABs. Hitting around 200 is fine for this lineup.

Agree. Productive at bats is something you don't fully see in the stats except for the sacs. If he can just move the lineup that will be fine. Will need him more behind the plate to manage the pitching staff.
From reports it seems Neal has consistently improved behind the plate as the fall went on. I'm thinking those 2 will share time behind the plate throughout the season with Milazzo likely getting the bulk of the work and important games as long as he has those productive at bats mentioned.

thank you and Geaux Tigers

I’ve only said the same thing about Milazzo for 3 years now. That if he can hit 200, he’s the starter. That’s not exactly a hot take Lester.

Pop in the bats from White, Neal, and Skenes, plus improved power from Morgan will make this team fun to watch. No easy outs or lack of power anywhere in the lineup (except Milazzo, but we can live with that)!

He will need to hit better than .200 & bunting people over. The things you need to reach on to label him productive is kind of sad & makes him a charity case.
Neal is breathing down his neck

I don't think .200 cuts it when you have a Brady Neal sitting on the bench.

The only areas I’m even slightly concerned going into the spring is left side of the infield depth/bullpen rotation. With that being said I’m not concerned.

Man, what happened to Pearson this fall? He finished last year as a top 3 bat imo.

I think it does if you’re outs are productive too and you have to handle a staff throwing 95-99 mph outside of Cooper.
I want Neal to play. He should start lots of games. I think Travinski gets time too. But Milazzo is at the top of the depth chart if he can show this kind of output vs the pitching he’s faced this fall.

8 RBIs in 64 PAs is productive for anyone at the bottom of an order. That’s no reach.
I would love to know Jay’s evaluation based on the scoring he uses during the fall. As points are awarded to teams, I’m sure they’re awarded/removed from players as well. I bet my life that Milazzo is in the top third on the list.

RBIs are a team function of who is able to get on base in front of you. Data shows it is not a learned function of hitting. That it is a result of opportunity.
What is linked to offensive production is getting on base & XBH. So if Jay is impressed with milazzo hitting a slow roller to 2B to move a runner, he must love Neal’s ability to strike the ball. He has been good on defense too, and has thrown out at least 5 guys running as told by those at the game. I think he got Morgan this weekend.
So at some point you have to weigh defense vs offensive production and Neal has a lot going for him on each side.

Taking advantage of opportunities is kinda of a big deal yes? Again, I’d bet Milazzo is in the top third of Jays evaluation stats if they’re based on the same thing he uses for team scoring. I went to a lot of games this fall Lester. I’m not pulling this out of my arse.

I’m sure you did. I also am aware of your biases and your affinity to want to be right about everything. The mere fact that you have continually propped up a .200 hitter all fall tells me that.
So the truth is probably somewhere in between.

quote:Very unlikely given how much weight he places on OBP and SLG
Again, I’d bet Milazzo is in the top third of Jays evaluation stats
He’ll play because the season is a grind for a freshman catcher, but he’s not what you’ve been trying to make him for the last two offseasons
