When U.S. free trade policy enables companies to offshore production, the report states, American employees are not the only ones directly impacted by such moves. Towns and communities as a whole, along with Americans in supporting industries, feel the devastating impact as well.

In Rep. Tim Ryan’s northeast Ohio district, nearly 25,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost over the last two decades. At the same time, drug overdose deaths in the area have skyrocketed by 400 percent in some communities.

It's a hollowing out of our economy, and long-term it will prove self-defeating. Trump or DeSantis needs to make hay on this. At a minimum, there should be a concerted/funded effort to reshore manufacturing of critical/strategic goods. Rather than investing 100's of billions in BS green energy, reduce regulations and make low interest loans available for reshoring projects.

There is quite possibly no other state in the union that has been devastated more by "free trade" than the state of Ohio. Ohio was THE manufacturing and blue collar state of the US. People in Ohio finally saw the light. Now Ohio is flourishing under total Rep control and has turned things around. People keep talking about Florida Florida Florida...when they should be saying Ohio Ohio Ohio.

It also moves pollution overseas. Most of it worse than would be if done in USA.
