Absolutely. And if the ONLY machines recording the votes are at polling stations and people actually had to show up and use their ID, you would see a lot different results.

I like this in principle, but the only thing about it is: this data has to live somewhere, and I don’t like the idea of all of this voting data being tied to me for someone to exploit.

I guess I just fail to see what would make me not trust it. Are there vulnerabilities with every available method? Absolutely, but you put safeguards in place to reduce the risk of those vulnerabilities being compromised.
I have yet to see any compelling evidence to suggest there are rampant integrity issues with our voting systems.

Clean roles. In person voting, early voting allowed if its in person. Mail in votes disallowed along with ballot harvesting and drop boxes.
And I think ink on your finger showing you voted would be valid.

Vote on election day with a paper ballot, ID, and dip your finger in ink.
Very limited absentee/early vote but must be in person.
A system that can easily be audited by any political party, group or even individual voter.
Counting supervised by party/candidate representatives.

Say your name is Jeffrey Davis and you live at xxx willow drive.
If someone registers as Jeff Davis at xxxA willow drive online, then votes as that person it doesn't stop it.
I personally know 2 people that that happened to over the last 2 elections.
Then if the find out Jeffrey didn't vote, that's 2 votes to the other side.The counters just backfill it on the other side.
Because Jeffrey doesn't GAF, he's not going to check if someone voted in his stead.

Since the government requires SOX controls on most public filers, there should be a Federal requirement that each state must have their controls over the election process certified and audited by an independent auditing firm. The audit firm MUST be rotated every Presidential election. The states can establish their own process but must be validated.
Control failures MUST have consequences such as removal of elected officials.
Chain of custody must be maintained and documented. Tallies should be conducted by independent auditing firms removing all government parties and a sample of the tallies must be verified by another auditing firm.
The US can piss away money to the Ukraine and doesn’t care about the cost to companies for SOX so they can join the party.

I trust no system that cannot be audited.
The burden should not be on a candidate to “prove fraud.”
The burden should be on the Gvt to prove reliability of the result. The fricking government saying “trust us, it’s legit” doesn’t prove anything

Also change the paper ballots. I have used them for years now after the R's called for them because the computers were voting straight D years ago.
No more coloring in the oval on paper ballot to vote.
This is 2022 for God sakes. AZ showed the fancier they try to get the more failures...
