It will take a lot of effort to not enjoy North Alabama. Buy a boat and hit me up, I make great conversation, while you transition beyond the veil.

Yeah - that’s why my wife and I spent all of that money setting up a revocable living trust.

I disinherited everyone not a patriot. Told them about it. Watched the meltdown. Was entertaining.

I’ve made many mistakes and done a lot of things wrong but the one thing I did right that I’m most proud of is that I raised 3 patriots who are morally grounded, love this country, all self sufficient as young adults, and they red pill everyone around them.

Mrs. M used to get pissed at me for not easing up on our kids, especially our boys, when playing basketball, baseball, football or even board games for that matter. My response, which she quickly supported, was “when they can win, they will win. Life will give them nothing so neither am I”. (I may have taken it a bit far in basketball fouling more and more often as I aged to offset my waning skills in hopes of keeping ahead of them.)

I agree with this approach completely. I’m Gen X. I have 9 year old twins. I don’t let them win. I tell them it means something when they actually win. It has value then.

It’s one thing to have different beliefs from your parents as a young person. As another poster quoted, “if you aren’t a liberal when young, you have no heart, and if you aren’t a conservative when old, you have no brain.” Or something like that. Your children’s beliefs may change. Now, if your family conversations about politics devolve into disrespect, name-calling, and people not speaking to each other, that’s something else. That’s a respect and character issue, imo. ETA you can disagree with your elders but should never disrespect them.

I’m 64 years old and retiring this December, I’ve been working in some capacity since I was 14 years old.

I’m totally old school when it comes to personal finances….excluding a couple of home mortgages and some automobiles loans years ago we don’t buy unless we have the cash to purchase….it’s worked pretty well over the past +40 years. We haven’t bought a new automobile in 20 years and we made extra payments on our home mortgage to pay it off early.

We’re certainly not wealthy but if we don’t spend money carelessly the wife and I should be good until we check out of this earthly domain, and we can have a lot of enjoyment with the money we’ve squirreled away before we check out.

My message to Boomers is do not feel obligated to leave a shite load of money to your children and grandchildren, enjoy yourselves, you’ve worked +40 years, you’ve earned it.

If you’re a Boomer with children and grandchildren who are America First/MAGA types I can understand wanting to kick them some bucks when you check out, but for you Boomers that have children and grandchildren that are voting against your best interests and expecting you to drop that pot of gold at their feet when you check out…..

Hey dad.

The most self absorbed and narcissistic generation is probably Gen Z and then millennials. If you think I’m wrong look at the level of charitable giving by Boomers, particularly Christian Boomers and you’ll see what I’m talking about. And if you drill deeper on charitable giving, conservatives give far more as a percentage of their incomes vs Groomers.

Twins do you say? Well, God bless and best wishes to you and your family! Enjoy the ride. Our time here is remarkably short. A Dad like you is priceless to your children.

Yeah, but some are still shitty.

I have the daughter of a niece who is a screaming liberal in regards to everything! She makes you look downright moderate. When she got pregnant, at a certain stage, she did a gender reveal live on Facebook. I commented, "How provincial to gender your child's gender before it has an opportunity to know what it identifies as."

Of course it was a tongue in cheek joke, but she was devastated by it, and apologized to the whole of Facebook that she was wrong and shouldn't have assumed her baby's gender.

I was like but my niece won't talk to me now because for one moment she had a grandson and now she has a "they/them". So, based on their attitude towards me..."outta' da' will!"

I have a message for Boomers who have played by the rules. by Roger KlarvinThe boomers are why we are where we are today. They were shitty parents who inflated the egos of the younger generation with their “everyone gets a trophy” bullshite, and lived high on the hog thinking the financial success of the 80s and 90s would never end and set us up for fiscal problems down the road. They’re also about to bankrupt all social services over the next 20 years, so while they will actually benefit from the Ponzi schemes set up by the government the rest of us will not despite paying into it for decades.

I can't argue with this post only because the parents you speak of are more Groomer than Boomer...not conservative parents, very likely indoctrinated college grads in the first full wave of cultural Marxist indoctrination. As far as bankrupting Social Security, the wife and myself will never get the Social security payouts we paid in.
